Guest guest
>>If you get gas you are overcooking the cabbage. You should cook it till it only just turns bright green then stop. If you cook longer you release sulphur compounds that cause gas:-)) >But I thought cabbage was an avoid? yes, and if you cook it that long, you loose all of the vitamin C..... I heard once that in England, during WWII, people were coming down with scurvey all over the place, even though they had a good supply of cabbage, which is full of Vitamin C. The problem? The cooked it to death......... *sigh*........ Lorraine

Believe it or not when I sat to write this message I just couldn't think how to spell cabbage, I had to look it up in the dictionary. Like I said I was feeling so much better, I had no more gas, brain fog, or headache, vaginal itch, today I was a total rewch (sp?). After cooking my breakfast, I had to wait since I didn't have the energy to eat it, (didn't have any lunch since I ate my breakfast at 11:30 a.m.) my breakfast dishes are still waiting to be washed. I'm now cooking my supper which I don't know if I'll be able to eat it or not since the smell of it is making me sick. I'm having a hard time keeping my head up, since my neck is quite stiff. > > Any idea on why I feel so terrible? Was it the cabbage? Should I avoid it from now on? ==>My dear Maddalena, it is obvious your body really needed that doggone cabbage but it caused you a lot of discomfort in doing so. Cabbage will cause a strong die-off reaction in some people because it is a great detoxifier and it also kills candida. When candida is being killed off it puts out carbon dioxide which is a gas. The trick is not to eat too much in one day nor in one sitting, and to only gradually increase it over time. This will minimize the symptoms a great deal. You do not want to totally avoid those great healing foods. Just take it easy and have less. Love, Bee
Guest guest
i live in hawaii and have a good source for chinese cabbage that i can obtain from a local sustainable organic farmer. it is cabbage that looks similar to the napa cabbage at your site, bee - the one on the kimchi recipe page. can i use the leafy cabbage for rejuvelac or should i stick with the rounded " head " cabbage? thank you! cheyenne
Guest guest
Dearest Cheyenne, My how we can get ourselves into such fixes eh? I feel for you what with starting al over again, but as I said it won't take as long to overcome your candida beast like it did last time. That's great you are enjoying reading. The more we learn the better able we are to " know " when someone else's advice is wrong so we do not go into agreement with them. It's so easy to do however. Cheyenne, also remember to take it easy on the lemon juice; it is not unlimited because it does contain fructose. It is also best to squeeze it fresh from good lemons than to use any juice. The juices do tend to contain molds as well, even when certified organic. I'm so happy you came back. I like what you wrote " Bee - thank you for Bee-ing! " LOL! That's wonderful. I don't have a book yet but my website is the first step: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com. Congrats on finding a life-mate! Well done! We're happy to have you on board! I avoided sinus surgery at the last moment, I lost weight and maintained my weight where I wanted it to be for a long time now. My joints loosened up, I have felt younger and much more vital in mind, spirit, and body since the candida subsided. Since that happened I have been successful in many areas of my > life including the start of a new business that thrived from day one, a great relationship with a man - finally one that works for me, and all sorts of transformations - including the recent hawaiian move - have come through my life as a result of Bee's program. > > Recently a group of my friends have become involved with some raw eating programs in Florida and in Georgia. Why do we do what we know is wrong for us? I tried to argue, " no, no, no " - then at their nagging, I finally relented and gave in. Here I am...a couple months later and thousands of dollars gone. I have a big Vitamix sitting on my kitchen counter surrounded by bags of every shape and color of organic seeds and beans and wet nuts one can dream about. I have > been drinking and muching green things and even threw in a few fruit smoothies from time to time - they assured me it was ok and wouldn't rise up the candida. > > Wrong. I'm in a bloom from hell, have gained 10 pounds in a month, all I can think about in my fuzzy thoughts is eating, eating, eating, eating. I feel fat and bloated and ugly and my clothes don't hang right. My joints hurt, the bottoms of my feet even hurt when I walk on them. I can already feel the tops of my thighs rubbing together and eeuuuuwww, I want to crawl out of my skin.
Guest guest
I don't think so. If you eat a lot of raw cabbage it can interfere with your thyroid function. ----- Original Message ----- > Is it true that eating cabbage or drinking cabbage juice destroy iodine in > our body > Rysiek >
Guest guest
Right. Cabbage is part of a large number of items called goitrogens " that are substances that suppress the function of the thyroid gland by interfering with iodine uptake which can, as a result, cause an enlargement of the thyroid, i.e. a goitre. " -from Wikipedia. I've also read that cooking destroys the enzymes responsible for this so just don't eat a ton of raw goitrogens like brassica family vegetables and unfermented soy products especially... -Marlena > > I don't think so. Guest guest
Most of the problems with goitrogens happen when there is very little iodine in the diet. The Japanese and Koreans eat a LOT of cabbage and don't have high rates of thyroid disease ... they are also coastal nations who eat a lot of fish and seaweed. that said, fermented cabbage is, I think, a lot better for you. Raw cabbage gives me heartburn. Kimchi I eat constantly. I don't have thyroid problems at all, though everyone else in my family does.
