But I had a 2nd bout with candida after being free of it for over 18 years, which was caused by severe work stress and overwork, etc. and I let my diet slip enough to get candida back. When I'm stressed I totally lose my appetite and that's difficult to overcome. Now I'm stocking up on bone broths, and when stressed I rely on my raw egg drink. It didn't take long to cure my candida the 2nd time because I caught it soon enough. ==>We all need to be aware of how easy it is for candida to reoccur. I don't think it re-occurs because it happened the 1st time either, but under stress we need to be aware that often we fall back into old bad habits. Emotional factors connected to comfort foods take root in childhood and when stressed it's hard to overcome them. Love Bee
Guest guest
hi kat, the truth is - everyone is different. once you're feeling better and have relieved candida and other disease symptoms, you'll find out what works for you. some people eat according to the strictest form of the diet for the rest of their lives, others (like myself) continue to eat according to the diet outlines but can enjoy other foods without too much upset. myself - these days, if i take other foods in moderate quantities, along with my usual candida diet foods i'm fine. i can have a glass or two of wine with dinner, or a snack of some nuts, some carrots in a stew, occasional slice of bread with a meal, or a little bit of sheep/goat cheese on a salad, and i'll be fine. if i were to eat all those foods every day, many days in a row, i'd start feeling it. i avoid most cow's milk cheeses because most of them make me feel sick - hard aged cheeses like parmigiano are easier for me than something like brie or gouda. but i only learned this through many years of experimentation. i have to be particularly careful with most breads because i don't do so well with gluten. i'd normally just skip it, but if given a choice i'd eat a 100% sprouted bread (like ezekiel, or earthseed brand) over a piece of french bread or whole wheat bread every time. i digest sprouted grains better. if i order a burger in a pub, i always order it sans bun. just the burger, the trimmings and a side salad please. i don't even want the bun. i just avoid most grains whenever possible. my husband likes rice with his meals, i tend to get bloated and uncomfortable if i have more than a bite or two (unless i've been incredibly active and it gets burned off as fuel), so i don't put any on my plate and just eat a larger serving of vegetables. i avoid sugar most all the time, it does not agree with me, never has. i stay away from processed foods. we're all prone to different breakdowns when our immune system is weakened. i have never had a bladder infection or oral thrush, i'm more of an IBS kind of gal. others deal more with skin & nail fungus, while others get vaginal yeast infections, etc... some are prone to cancer, some not. some are prone to asthma, some not. diabetes, migraines, same thing. we have different genetic histories, and different constitutions. but regardless of what your personal health issues are...the diet we promote here - healthy fats, healthy proteins from clean animal sources, and a nice variety of vegetables - is a healthy lifestyle choice. you can't go wrong eating this way forever. hth ~ suz > With this candida, I know Bee says that you can cure it completely, > but in order to do this, do we basically stay on the diet for ever? > Suz has been off and on the program, and Bee says she prettys much > eats whats on the program, (Im not saying I want to go back to how I > used to eat........I know I'd be a fool to, I would end up sick > again), but how easy is it to relapse back into the chronic problems > again, ie, bladder infections, digestive problems, oral & vaginal > thrush, how strictly do you have to stay, once you are well?
