Guest guest
Thanks for all the input. I want to clarify though, that what I have is a BACTERIAL infection, not a yeast infection. I am still wondering how eating healthy bacteria can help the vaginal flora (I believe it probably does, I just don't understand how or why). mogarry <mogarry@...> wrote: Hi I used to have problems with yeast infections, but since I started drinking kefir regularly have not had a problem. I even challenged myself by a course of antibiotics, which used to spell immediate infection, but didn't get one! I'm sold on kefir as a preventive measure. Maureeen I have questions about whether consuming fermented foods and good bacteria can help vaginal infections. I get recurring bacterial vaginosis. I have noticed an improvement since I began drinking raw apple cider vinegar and drinking kefir. I told my doctor this a couple days ago and he said that he didn't see how consuming these could help. He said he has heard of inserting yogurt in the vagina helping. Then he showed me I still had an infection. Does anyone know about this? Is there a connection to increasing the healthy bacteria in the gut and in the vagina? Does anyone have any recommendations? I have not used metronidazole in over 6 months and I will not start again, but I want to get rid of this. Guest guest
> I am still wondering how eating healthy bacteria can help the vaginal flora > (I believe it probably does, I just don't understand how or why). > I think it is because when the bowel flora is normalized the general state of health of the body is improved and the immune system doesn't have to work as hard which allows the body to more effectively deal with infections. Here is a couple of things that I googled: " Bacterial vaginosis is not caused by a particular organism but is a change in the balance of normal vaginal bacteria. Ninety percent of the bacteria found in a healthy vagina belong to the Lactobacillus family. For unknown reasons, there is a shift in the bacterial population that results in overgrowth of other bacteria. Patients suffering from bacterial vaginosis have very high numbers of bacteria such as Gardnerella vaginalis, Mycoplasmahominis, Bacteroides species, and Mobiluncus species. These bacteria can be found at numbers 100 to 1000 times greater than found in the healthy vagina. In contrast, Lactobacillus bacteria are in very low numbers or completely absent from the vagina of women with bacterial vaginosis. " http://www.chclibrary.org/micromed/00070690.html " Bacterial vaginosis is the condition associated with both the reduction of the lactobacillus (predominant friendly bacteria) in the vaginal vault with an overgrowth of both Gardinella vaginalis and anaerobic bacteria. <snip> If you find that in spite of reducing the conditions that promote bacterial and yeast vaginal growth that you are still plagued by minor infections using an occasional douche of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (that provides extra oxygen to the vagina) on several nights per week, will tend to reduce the offending organisms. Reducing the offending organisms and repopulating the vagina with the correct form of lactobacillus is the way to go. Both Boric acid and vaginal lactobacillus are currently available in vaginal capsules. In my own practice I have found this to be both a very effective and inexpensive way to cure a very annoying chronic problem seen all too frequently in many women. Guest guest
Hey Bee and others, Cannot say I am happy to be back, he he ,but ever since last summer I have had one vaginal yeast infection after another, after being healed for 10 years!!! The only thing I changed in my diet was one Lara Bar a day, which is a natural dried fruit and nut bar, I love them and that was the only sugar I really got. Also, my now exhusband was unfaithful and that is when the yeast infections started. I have not been able to get rid of the stubborn thing and am miserable. Last night I put a Fungal Defense pill up my crotch, in hopes it would cure it, have also been making a paste of kefir and Primal Defense powder and putting it up there, still nothing. Anyone have any other ideas?? Juli

Stress can lower your immune system which in turn could bring about candida overgrowth again. > > I have not been able to get rid of the stubborn thing and am > miserable. It won't take as long as last time of course but it is obvious your immune system needs building up, and that you'll need to take go on the diet, and take supplements, antifungals and probiotics again. Direct treatments are only bandaids because you need to treat the body as a whole and treat the cause, i.e. lowered immune system which allowed candida to take over. Also see the Vaginal Yeast Treatments article on my new website: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/women6.php The best to you, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Juli, I would also suggest, on top of Bee's suggestions, that you visit a homeopath. If an emotional response brought this on, homeopathy can do wonders to help out. Though everything is all inter-related (physical, emotional, spiritual, energetic), it sounds like you've had a huge energy shift. Guest guest
I recommended boric acid as a douche or boric acid suppositories to a friend after reading about it online for vaginal yest infection and she reported back to me it worked extremely well. I forget the amounts to be used; possibly you could google it to find the concentration to be used or probably the directions on the bottle. It can be purchased as a powder I know at most drug stores. Hope this helps. - On Fri, 6/20/08, dartyrose <dartyrose@...> wrote: From: dartyrose <dartyrose@...> Subject: vaginal yeast infections candidiasis Date: Friday, June 20, 2008, 12:11 PM HELP! Guest guest
For Boric Acid, you want to fill a 00 capsule and insert 2X per day even during menstration and you need to keep at it for 4 months. The protocal you want to follow is the same as you use for Yeast Arrest, but using powdered Boric Acid instead since it's MUCH cheaper: Suggested Use: Acute Yeast Vaginitis (Candida) Mild cases: Insert 1 suppository once per day for 3 to 7 days. Resistant cases: Insert 1 suppository twice per day for 10 to 14 days. Use a panti-liner or pad as suppository capsule will melt and leak over 12-24 hours. We recommend you take an oral probiotic during treatment and/or follow with a few days of Candaclear probiotic suppositories to replenish the good bacteria. Note: Although Yeast Arrest does kill off some of the good bateria, it does so more sparingly than antibiotics, plus the Calendula has anti-inflammatory & immune enhancing effects. Chronic Yeast Vaginitis (Candida) Insert 1 suppository twice per day for 2 weeks. If a response occurs but not a complete resolution, repeat for an additional two weeks (1 capsule 2 times per day). Then, 1 capsule per day for four days each month, during menstruation (or the last days of menses), for four months. Use a panti-liner or pad as suppository capsule will melt and leak over 12-24 hours. Safe during pregnancy and lactation. We recommend you take an oral probiotic during treatment and/or follow with a few days of Candaclear probiotic suppositories to replenish the good bacteria. Bacterial Vaginonis (BV) See our complete BV protocol here on this page. Prevention of recurrence Insert 1 suppository once per day at bedtime during menstruation for four months. Depending on severity of symptoms, you may use as little as 1 suppository per month during the last day of your period, or one per day for 5 days during your period (or when symptoms tend to flare up). Normal side effects: While using Yeast Arrest suppositories, some women experience a large amount and/or different kind of discharge within the first few days. This is normal and can be attributed to the yeast and bad bacteria dying off and being released out of your body. Within days, symptoms will subside. Be sure to be taking your oral HLC Probiotics alongside with vaginal treatment to ensure the body can re-colonize the good bacteria.
