Enzymes and Betaine HCl - was never-ending nausea

Hi Bee,

Thanks much for that explanation, I have always wondered how it really

works! A chiropractor turned me on to the HCl many years ago and for a long

time that's all I took (though in retrospect maybe not enough. ). Since

being on this group I started adding a bit of enzymes (so I might have 3-4

HCl and 1 enzyme capsule per meal now) and it SEEMS to work a bit better. A

bit of trivia - that chiro told me that a 'normal' stomach produces the

equivalent of 19 of the standard dosage Betaine HCl capsules in response to

a 'normal' meal. WOW! So probably 8 isn't that much!

==>Janine, the fact is " if " you increase HCl in the stomach to

levels required it triggers enzymes to be released in the duodenum

(1st part of the small intestines) and vice versa; if stomach acid

is too low it won't trigger production of enzymes.

==>Also if you increase digestion in the stomach it means less work

for the pancreas and other areas that secrete digestive enzymes.
