This is such good news! Great choice Bee!

Congratulations Debby!

Debby, thank you for agreeing to help moderate on Bee's forum!

I have always marvelled at the wisdom you have poured out to help

others from your own personal experiences on Bee's forum. Reading your

responses to others has helped me many times on my journey to health.

Debby, you really have a heart and a gift to serve others and you are a

a great addition to Bee's special group of moderators.

When I first joined the forum, I really thought you were a moderator

the way you reached out to help others, and was surprised to realize

you weren't.

I have often thought Bee should have a file just to hold all the

helpful information you have shared to help others on the forum.

Thank so much Debby! :-)

Yea Debby! Congratulations!

Also, I know you said it wasn't necessary...but congrats on making it to

your halfway point. How long did it take you? I know that the rate of

weight loss is different for everyone but I want to have an idea when I will

get there. LOL! I remember you saying you had lost 75 lbs in the first six

months. I'm a little slower...60 pounds in six months...but getting there

too.

You have been an inspiration in that area....as well as your determination

to get healthy.

Hugs,

Ellen

Thanks so much for the sweet words Debra. I often

wonder whether the information I give is useful or not

and it's good to know someone is helped. What's the

use of knowing all this stuff unless I can share with

others?

Thanks Ellen,

I spent a year on the first 15 pounds. First 8 months

I spent doing a regular low carb diet, not losing

anything. Then I spent about four months weaning onto

the candida diet, and it was during that time I slowly

lost 15 pounds.

On October 11th of last year (my son's birthday) I

joined the gym and ditched the coffee/cream/splenda I

was drinking every morning as the last thing to wean

off of.

That was when the weight loss started really taking

off between being fully on the diet and and

exercising. So since 10/11 of last year and now I

have lost the other 100 pounds.

So I guess that's 100 pounds in 10.5 months. Because

I'm larger I know it will go slower when I get to

smaller sizes. I lost about 4 pounds a week when I

first started and now I lose about 2 per week.

Congrats on your 60 pounds.. that is about my rate

too. Are you exercising as well? The last time I was

this weight was before I was pregnant and had been

doing very well on trying to get my weight off, which

was 5/30/03.

After that I slacked off and gained 15 pounds and then

got pregnant with my son and gained 100. But I know

that even though I am the same weight as back then, I

am sure I am a smaller size because of all the

exercise and weight lifting I do and more muscle mass.

I'm certainly a lot toner!

Hi Debby!

Yes, I am definitely exercising! Until April of this year (about two months

into this program) I was a total couch potato. Although it is spelled twice

as long in actuality " exercise " used to be a four letter word to me. :-)

Then I discovered aquacise...a combination of water aerobics, strength

training and conditioning...and fell in love. I have gone from the

beginners class to full blown water aerobics and now actually teach (as a

volunteer) two classes a day, three days per week. Still do the strength

training and conditioning two or three days a week as well.

Thanks for answering my question about your weight loss. My current short

term goal is to hit that 100 pound mark by Christmas...and at my current

rate I should make it. Sadly I started out weighing a bit more than you (a

hard thing to admit) so have further to go to reach my goal; but I an going

to do it. I will beat the Candida and the battle of the bulge!!

Thanks Debby!

Hugs,

Ellen

That's awesome! I've done aqua aerobics clases before

and have enjoyed them immensely. However for me I get

so bored with exercise and not having anything to

stimulate my mind.

So the elliptical was the perfect answer for me,

because I can do something I love to do (read a book)

at the same time as doing something I should do.

I motivate myself to go to the gym by not allowing

myself to read a book I'm enjoying unless I'm on the

elliptical.

I also listen to my mp3 player at the same time so

it's really a treat. Now lifting weights is boring as

hell but I do like 10 minutes a day of different

weights and I've improved my strength all over the

place.

The biggest difference was with the crunch machine

exercises and back exercise machines. Because I carry

so much weight in my abdomen, when I was at my highest

weight I had bad back pain when ever I tried to carry

my son or basically do anything.

Getting my trunk stronger helped me with *everything*

else I do physically. I started out doing 10 crunches

at 35 pounds every other day. Now I do 100 crunches

at 135 pounds every time I go to the gym.

Seeing my abilities improve with lifting weights has

been a huge motivator for me.. something I challenge

myself with.

I find that setting specific weight goals is a set up

for me. If I don't make it I can become very upset,

so I don't set goals for myself at all.

I intend to eat this way for life so when ever I get

to my goal I get to my goal. It won't change the way

I eat or exercise so I don't need a time limit.

The only thing I do is weigh myself daily to make sure

I'm on track and my weight isn't slipping upwards.

If I see my weight loss is slowing I make sure I am

getting enough water, sleep, exercise, relaxation, the

right foods, etc.

You know we all have our battles in life.. some of us

have gambling addictions, food addictions, mean

tempers, drug abuse, depression, etc.

Everyone is fighting some kind of battle, so don't

think less of yourself because of yours, or because it

seems worse than others.

Debby
