Guest guest
Hey all, I just learned about Candida this weekend when I did a search for " Holistic " and GERD. My girlfriend has had a crazy string of issues in the last year mostly. It started years ago with Chronic Sinusitus where she went through a string of infections that occurred around once a month. Then she was having a variety of odd systems (ridiculous amounts of gas (both ends), stomach acid making it to her throat, heart burn, stabbing chest pains, ... that eventually led us to LPR (Laryngeal Pharygeal Reflux Disease, a cousin of GERD). Once we diagnosed the LPR I was hopeful that she'd finally be well as LPR has been shown to cause many of her systems. She was put on 2 nexiums a day, elevated her bed, modified her diet. But it got better for a bit but now has been getting worse for awhile now. She was tested for food allegies (nothing very interesting) and fructose intolerance (vomited within minutes from the solution). At this point she's suffering from 3 sinus infections in the last 2 months, 2 vaginal yeast infections, possible IBS (along with Diarhea, occasional terrible pain), regular stomach upsets and other systems of heartburn LPR, lots of belching. And even her feet are beginning to stink. Then there's the moods, air-headedness, and other mental stuff that goes with it. So basically, she's got infections happening on all ends of her digestive system. Strong anti-biotics aren't curing her for long and seem to be maiking it worse. This all led me to a.) heighten my disdain for western medicine, b.) believe there's something bigger and wierder going on here. After reading about Candida, it seems a perfect fit. An infection in her intenstine or colon that isn't being cured by anti-biotics, that improved when she went on the Atkins diet, and that is affecting her in many ways. She took the test on the Yeast Connection http://www.yeastconnection.com/yeast.html and she scored a 19 (a 12 indicates that you almost definitely have a yeast problem). Because of the issues she's having with her back-end, she already has a colonoscopy scheduled and will be doing the necessary colon cleasing as part of that. So now for questions: 1.) Should she proceed with the colonoscopy? Should anything special be done as part of that and/or the color cleansing 2.) What are the chances that her doctor will know anything about Candida and/or think its bunk? 3.) What should I go out tomorrow and buy for her to begin fighting this thing 4.) What are the chances she can get rid of this? How long will it take for her to feel better and/or be cured? Thanks for your insight, Dave
