,

It takes about a day to lose the cravings. I switched over to seltzer

water to get the bubbles and green tea to get the caffiene.

Yes, I used to eat a lot of sweets and carbs. Sometimes I would just

be continually hungry and not know why. Very disturbing. Then,

through this board, I found out about the carbo addict website. Read

up on the issue, followed the advice given, and voila! - no more

cravings for pasta, sweets, etc.

The nice thing about following this diet is that you can " cheat "

every now and then and it has minimal effect. On the forth, I had

corn

on the cob, hamburgers (wheat buns) and cheesecake. No big deal the

next day.

The tricky part about going low carb is eliminating " hidden " carbs. I

used to dring an energy drink during hot weather. I finally read the

label and found out I was consuming about 100 grams of carbos for

every quart I drank! Needless to say I no longer comsume that

beverage.

Bottom line - the ER4YT coupled with low carb intake works.

Thanks, . That's very encouraging. If I can just make it through one

day, maybe I'll be fine.

You're welcome .

If you get hungry during the day just eat more steak (or some other

zero carb food). You can eat as much as you want (no carbs) on this

diet plan and still lose weight and have lots of energy. There is a

website which lists all the fat/protein/carbohydrate content of just

about any food you can imagine. Their address is

http://www.nutri-facts.com/main.asp

Hi ,

Carbs make you crave carbs. If you can go one day or two without any, you

won't crave them any more. Actually, for different people, the period is

different. But any carb will cause subsequent cravings for more. Hi

protein snacks onhand will help you, like hardboiled egg, pumpkin or

sunflower seeds, also vegetable slices, like carrots if you like those. If

it's a serious problem, people will cut out fruit as well, using HB

vegetables and protein. For me, i had to stop eating ALL carbs. Now i can

do fruit, but not too much.

Good Luck,

Ann in Florida :)

And, don't overlook the obvious -- if you don't buy it you won't eat

it. It's far easier to muster enough will power during a half hour

of

grocery shopping than several days at home with a carton of ice cream

in the freezer.

Shop smart.

The hard part is when shopping for family members who eat anything and

Hi Ann

I've been 90% compliant for 4 years.

what finally took away the sugar cravings was taking liquid

chromium......by E-LITE....10 drops a day....I also doubled the Zinc

initially, but now I am convinced it was the chromium.....I just

discovered this trick this summer. I do not have ANY sugar cravings

as long as I keep near the chromium....

re: weight loss. it can be blocked by other things and not helped by

this diet alone.....after losing 80 lbs, putting back on 20 in the

first 1.5 years of this diet, I am still 100 lbs over and have been

on this plateau for 2 years....

I take glutamine practically every day.

jaen

Ann's Sugar Cravings

Double the protein and increase the fat. Are you taking fish oil? The

dose for you would be 15 capsules a day. This helps to keep your

insulin levels steady. Pop 5 fish oil caps when you feel hungry. Then,

go get yourself some meat and vegetables cooked with plenty of ghee or

olive oil. Top veggies with olive, sesame, or high-lignan flax oil

before eating. Whole fruit is better than grains or tubers. If this

doesn't work, take 5g of L-glutamine when you get the craving. Raw

pumpkin seeds and walnuts are another good snack.

Hi Jaen, Good for you - you have really worked at this. Do you exercise? When I

wanted to lose weight I found that it was the missing piece. When I did

exercise, I lost weight. My weight now is right for me and seems to be quite

stable. I walk 30 minutes several times a week and have now added intervals of

jogging.....am planning to read tonight and think about an appropriate program

for me to follow....step it up. Not for weight loss...I will probably just

improve my body comp which is fine with me.

The real reason for doing any of this is to feel good.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with sugar cravings?

The most widely published method of reaching for a healthy snack

instead doesn't do anything for me!!! I can't believe how much this

has a hold of me. Im not as bad now, but I previously went to

extraordinary lengths to get a snack that I knew was bad for me!

Thanks,

ita
