Guest guest
I just finished up taking amoxicillin a couple of days ago and am finally starting to feel the way I did back 3 weeks ago. On Aug 17 I went to the emergency room with a bright red area that started on the outside of my left calf and was spreading around my lower leg. It was very hot to the touch. The day before I had chills and a temp that spiked at 101.9. These 3 symptoms told the doctors that I had Cellulitus and I was admitted and put on IV antiboitics (ceftriaxone injection - a 50 ml drip for a half hour). I was also getting a subcutaneous injection of 30 mg of Lovenox (enoxaparin sodium), an anticoagulant because they thought I might have Deep Vein Thrombosis. After the 2nd day, I was put on oral Keflex, 2 capsules 3 times a day and the Lovenox was stopped. I was discharged on the 20th and given a prescription for AugmentinXR (amoxicillin 1000 mg and clavulanate 62.5 mg), 2 caplets twice a day for 10 days. My Celulitus went away, but, as you can probably guess, my candida went wild. And to top it off, while in the hospital I could not follow my eating plan. The only yoghurt I could get had fruit and sugar or aspartame in it. (I'm allergic to aspartame.) In fact, a dietitian was sent in to talk to me about going on the American Heart Association diet as I weigh over 350 lbs. When I told her about my eating plan (that incidentally has helped me to lose 21 pounds), she had the gall to call my eating plan a " Fad Diet " . That really irked me to no end. I was, however, very polite while I explained to her that it was, in no way, a Fad Diet and why. I don't think she even comprehended anything I said. As I said, I getting back to " normal " now that I'm home and off the antibiotics. Though my vaginal yeast really went crazy. Never in my life, till this incident, have I had a vaginal yeast infection. I can now honestly say I compleatly sympathize with those that have them over and over again. The itching was enough to make me crazy. Aside from getting back on my eating plan, and taking my vitamins and suppliments (no pills in the hospital unless prescribed by a doctor), I have been taking colloidal silver. I find it really helps. I plan to do more as finances allow. All I can say is it's so good to be home. Cecile
