I have used all the lundberg rices and they are incredible. I used to hate

brown rice, but these are so much more than just brown. Today I had ebony

rice and it was definitely black with tons of fiber!!

The only time I can ever remember having what I suppose was " dumping " was

after eating some rice at a Japanese place on my wife's birthday. Very

embarassing and I left the table for over 30 minutes. I've had other rice

since then, in small quantities, without problem. I used to " love " rice.

They do make brown Basmati rice which is not stripped of the husks and is as

good for you as regular brown rice.

for some reason some people have problems with rice and it one of the

few things i have " dumped " on. i think the key to eating rice is in

eating VERY small amounts of it in a bite. and chewing it.... rice is

kinda hard to chew....ya know what i mean? i am also a sushi fan but

seems like after MGB i find it a little....... " strong " not sure

why... tastes change and i am not as crazy about it as before.

good luck!!

Rice is definitely something I have to be careful with too. I don't

dump with it but it most of the time just doesn't sit well in my

stomach. It is OK with me if it is mixed in and therefore in the

minority in the recipe but on its own, like with chinese food, I keep

it to a minimum.

Sushi is " just OK " with me -- like said, a little strong and

there are definitely other things that sit better in my tummy.

I hear you on that one...seems that rice isn't sitting well with people...I

think it is because most of it stays intact as you swallow therefore, it is

harder to digest :(

Damn ;)

Hi ,

I personally don't do well with rice. I get a real bloated feeling.

However, last night my husband and I went out for sushi. I had sashimi. It

was awesome. I don't miss the rice at all, in fact, I enjoy the entire

Japanese food experience more now than I did pre-mgb. Good luck.

Hi, I am four years out and can eat just about anything. Am I the lucky

one? That depends on how you look at it being a carb lover. Anyway, don't

fret if there are foods you can't tolerate right now, it may change later.

Hi ,

Everyone is different, but I cannot tolerate rice. I have tried it

three times and within 10 minutes I feel like I cannot breathe. It is

so painful until I finally throw up. The last time I only had 5

grains... and it did the same. (I missed it and thought, let me try

just a bit.) I will never ever try it again!

I really miss sushi, but its not worth it for me. But fortunately rice

is the only food that does this to me, so its not a big deal.

I hope it works out better for you.

raw. it can cause bacteria in the stomach and other areas. please check with

the clos office to verify it.

I am 4 years out and still can't eat white rice SAFELY...sometimes it is

ok, usually it makes me ill. It converts to sugar very quickly because it is

so high in starch, so proceed with extreme caution.

Rice is no good for any diabetic.

Type O diabetics need to choose low carb options within the type O category.

> At the moment they have it a reasonable amount.

I think balance is needed. I'd teach them nutrition and to eat a diet

full of nutrinets they need. If rice fits iwithin that as a minor part,

that's not unreasonable especally for active kids. Action need

carbohydrates.

But test their blood sugar after a meal with rice now and then so

you spot anything developing nice and early.

With my kids I taught them nutrition from a young age so they know what

nutrients are in where - and I made them do the cooking some of the time

(everyone got to make dinner in turn then on the 5th day we ate out).

They could cook anything they wanted on their cooking day as long as it

was balanced nutrition:-))

Both their wives have since thanked me.... for the nutrition ed and the

cooking ability and the guys LIKE being able to make good meals that are

also yummy - it makes for great block parties and such when both adults

can cook :-))

So you might also try to conquer with education and then later on your

kids will know for themselves what to watch out for to pre-empt illness.

Morning

Not at all. But then we are eating brown rice, not white. In fact,

that is one of the things that keeps our intestines moving and we both

have quite bad IBS with constipation.

If you are suffering from constipation, take magnesium. You may have to

experiment with the dosage (we need a high dose), but it helps

immensely.

Keen

Doesn't rice constipate you guys?

I'm in the first phase of the antiyeast diet and have had brown rice

on 2 different occasions. I've gotten very ill both times with nausea,

diarrhea, dizziness, etc. Is this more likely an allergy or too much

carbs at one time? I didn't eat a ton of it, like 1 cup maybe.
