Only a month or so ahead of you and here for my 7 yr. old, but I know the over

whelmedess feeling. As you are working to sort through all of this here are a

few points that would have helped me in your shoes:

1. Change your diet immediately. Do not eat any sugar at all (fruit; honey;

anything); vinegars; alcohol; white/refined processed flour; potatoes;dairy.

For my daughter whole grain things are OK when taken with peanut butter, but

maybe try pulling all grains at first and then add back whole grains. Focus on

meat; vegetables, rice. Dairy might be OK, but pull it at first and then try it

after out of your diet and see. For many it does not do well for reasons other

than yeast, but there is lactose which is milk sugar in it.

2. Book, read Crook's " The Yeast Connection " for general

input/confirmation you are not going crazy. There is another Crook book with

more focus on the women's angle sopposidly finished off by Crook's daughter and

partner. (He died before completion). I have both, and somewhat overlaps the

two but the second one is more up to day and has more women's issue so might

recommend that one too. I find them helpful to use the index and go to specific

problems/areas.

3. Focus on this area called die off. As you stop feeding the yeast and/or

start to try to kill it off, often you will experience feeling much worse before

you start to get better. It's normal so don't be freaked if you start to feel

like crap when you do this.

This will get you to at least stop the cycle. From here you will have to sort

through using over the counter antifungals such as nystatin orally; natural anti

fungals (and there are a ton of them); which vitamins; and also very important

to consider the probiotic angle;enzymes. I'm in no way near in any position to

give advice on those areas. But one thing that might help to realize is that

there are many strains of yeast that could be causing the problem, and each

yeast will have it's own thing that kills it off PLUS each body may be

different. If you are able to get your yeast to culture in a stool analysis to

find out specifically what kind, the tests can determine what particular item

will work to kill it off. However this is usually not the case as it doesn't

always show up and/or there may be more variations. Which will at least help

you understand when you read from one person that something was great and

another person say it did nothing. I'm sure your doctor has you on something

for the vaginal yeast problem which is needed immediately. Lastly on a

different personal note, an antibiotic messed me and many others up majorly in

similar ways. Mine was cipro, it came from a group of antibiotics called the

quinolones. Be VERY leery of taking any antibiotic at this point. Not to

mention that it most likely got you in this condition. Feel relief in knowing

you are not going crazy, it is a biological problem the medical industry almost

completely overlooks.

Take care,

Kari

NEW TO CANDIDA DIAGNOSIS-LONG

I RECENTLY WENT TO A HOMEOPATHIC M.D AFTER SEARCHING FOR YEARS FOR AN

ANSWER. I AM ONLY 25 BUT HAVE FELT TERRIBLE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. I HAVE

CONSTANT YEAST INFECTIONS, BOILS, EXTREME FATIGUE (WANTING TO SLEEP

16 HOURS A DAY), SEVERE BLOATING AND MAJOR WEIGHT GAIN AMONG MANY

OTHER THINGS TO NUMEROUS TO MENTION. MY MOOD IS GOOD HOWEVER SO I

REALLY NEVER FELT IT WAS DEPRESSION AND FOR SURE NOT DEPRESSION

ALONE. YEARS AGO A DERMATALOGIST PUT ME ON A DAILY ANTIBIOTIC TO

CLEAR UP ACNE THAT I TOOK FOR APPROX. 6 MONTHS. AT THE TIME A HAD NO

CLUE ABOUT CANDIDA BUT DID CHOSE TO DISCONTINUE AT MY OWN WILL DUE TO

CHRONIC YEAST INFECTIONS WHILE ON IT. AFTER THAT I HAVE NEVER BEEN

THE SAME. I HAVE FELT LIKE I AM SLOWLY DYING. THE DOCTORS UP UNTIL

NOW HAVE HAD NO ANSWERS AND I WAS EVEN TOLD THAT " I WASN'T A

TEENAGER ANYMORE " AND THAT THIS FEELING WAS A NORMAL PART OF AGING.

ALL I COULD THINK IS THAT IF THE EARLY 20'S FEEL THIS WAY THEN THERE

WAS NO WAY I COULD HANDLE MY 30'S ECT... WELL RECENTLY THIS NEW

DOCTOR QUICKLY SAID IT WAS A YEAST PROBLEM. SHE DID A VAGINAL EXAM

AND SAID THERE WAS A MOJOR OVERGROWTH AND ORDERED SOME BLOOD TESTS

THAT I WILL DO AT DIFFERENT TIMES DURING MY CYCLE( DIFFENT HORMONE

TESTS I THINK). IT WILL BE A WHILE BEFORE I GET THE RESULTS AS I HAVE

NOT EVEN FINSISHED THE TESTS. I FIND THIS BOARD HELPFUL BUT ALSO

OVERWHELMING DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF INFO. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW

WHAT THE FIRST FEW STEPS ARE THAT I SHOULD TAKE, THE BEST BOOKS TO

READ, SUPPLEMENTS ECT... I KNOW MANY OF YOU HAVE SPENT YEARS TRYING

TO FIND WHAT WORKS AND I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO SHARE THAT HARD EARNED

WISDOM WITH ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Update: Please note that the mention of Crooks book is just a good starting

place for what's going on. It was wrote a while ago and there is a bunch of

other newer discussions/books on the anti-fungal natural or prescription fixes.

I just found his books helpful in gaining a start for this new world out there.

Your story sounds so familiar! I was 22 when I started feeling bad

and thought, " how am I gonna survive my 30's, 40's, etc " ?!?!?!? I

was also on antibiotics for acne (over 13 years worth), but only

seemed to have problems after switching to a stronger antibiotic 8

years into " treatment " . I have started a new group called " candida-

antibiotics - candidiasis? " on and I would love to have you

send a message telling the similar story told here. Everything in

all of our groups in anonymous, so I would like to get together

several complaints and see if there is similiarity in stories. I

think there should be some research done on the long-term use of

antibiotics, so that we can validate the " yeast theory " and get more

doctors aware of the problem and able to prescribe medications to

help us out. I have had the hardest problem getting a doctor to

prescribe an antifungal to me and it's very frustrating (this was

after I discovered that there was such a thing as a yeast

connection). Anyways, I hope you have great success with

treatment. It's nice that you have such a positive outlook on

things!

hi, hopeful-

i'm 24, and i have had a very similar experience as you, minus the

homeopath. i know that feeling of dying slowly. its almost like

you're rotting from the inside out. the worst part is that no one

believes it! i started to figure out what was going on after i came

upon 'the yeast connection and the woman' at my local bookstore. i

would highly recommend that as an intro, especially with diet and

supplements. everything is really overwhelming at first and i think

its best to work on it one step at a time. ESPECIALLY food

elimination. go first sugar, then fruit, then grains, while focusing

on unprocessed, fresh vegetables.

but what's definitely helped me the most is hanging around this

group- i don't post all the time, but i try to soak up everyone

else's knowledge. don't hesitate to ask anyone anything! it does get

better with time and diligence.

there are also a lot of recipes and websites that can help. google

has been priceless!
