Guest guest
I have done some liver cleanses in the past before i knew better they did not make a difference to me just gave me a headache at the time but i believe they do deplete vital electrolytes so remeber this has to be addressed when doing a liver cleanse/ flush or you will feel more drained and fatigued than ever . Guest guest
No a low carb diet will not heal your liver. Your liver needs nutrients to help flush the junk out. These are the things I have done or know are good. Metagenics Ultra Clear Plus (28 day detox - www.organic-pharmacy.org order 3 cans ($75 / ea) plus the instruction manual ) This is expensive but wonderful. My liver was so toxic after the 3 RAI's that it was bulging out of my rib cage. Dandelion Root Extract Milk Thistle (however this works better on children than adults I am told by my ND) TLC - this is a liver product that Dr. Brownstein is formulating and will be available soon. I will be in his office in a few weeks and he will give me a bottle to try since my liver is touchy I will make a good guinea pig. He did this product so that you would not have soy. It seems many products have soy in them. https://www.purezenhealth.com/onlineStore_cat13.php Steph Liver cleanse? What are my options for doing this? My ATP was raised slightly (high end normal was 35 and i was at 39) - i'm doing low-carb now, is that enough to help heal the liver or should i do a cleanse of some sort? tanya
Guest guest
There is nothing that I can see in Metagenic Ultra Clear Plus that will effectively detox the liver. It is a multi-vitamin mix with added amino acids. Certainly it will help to make one feel good because of the added vitamins but that doesn’t make an effective cleanse. Most good vitamin complexes may help to cleanse to a certain degree but it will be a very slow process without cleansing herbs and if one is not eating a healthy diet then the cleansing aspect will not happen. There are better things out there that cost much less. One’s best bet for cleansing and supporting the liver is by using organic/wild-crafted herbs.  There are lots of choices out there. I highly recommend LivaPure because I formulated it especially for liver cleansing (I wanted specific herbs that are organic/wild-crafted) and support, depending on how you use it; however, as I said, there are others one can choose from. I have done a lot of cleansing (stage 3 colon cancer survivor), personally, and also with clients over the years.  Do your research. Milk Thistle (if using the right amount and the right type) does help to cleanse (to a point) and support the liver. It is one of the best supportive herbs (people do get success in using it) to use so I’m not sure why an ND would say otherwise.   For instance, there are several reasons to use the milk thistle seed rather than silymarin extract. Using the whole herb is recommended as often it will have a more balanced effect. The milk thistle extract silymarin, for instance, has proven useful in treating liver disease. However, the main drawback to using silymarin is that, if a healthcare professional prescribes other drugs, such as steroids, silymarin can interfere with the liver's ability to detoxify them. Milk thistle seed has the same healing effect on the liver without interfering with the organ's ability to detoxify drugs or environmental chemicals. It also has a side benefit of normalizing blood lipids as the liver heals. The following is a very good juice to help with cleansing that I use with my clients: ½ organic beet with leaves ¼ organic purple cabbage 4 stalks of organic celery 1 tablespoon of organic Hemp Seed Oil 1 tablespoon Quantum Greens 1 tablespoon E-3 Live 2 - capsules of 500 mg Curcumin 95% 1/2 capful of intraMAX (this is not necessary for cleansing – my clients use it for a supplement and I have them put it in the juice as an easy way to incorporate it into their program) Drink freshly-made juice 2x daily. Juice should not be made ahead of time. This is a very powerful drink. It is a good idea to drink 1x a day for five days and then add the 2nd juice. 1 hour after morning juice follow with 1 dropperful (under tongue – hold for 30 seconds and then swallow) of LivaPure.
