For some reason, I though cashews were off the list for candida sufferers for

the same reason that peanuts are. Maybe I read this in " The Complete Candida

Yeast Guidebook " ....yummmmm, I would love to know that I could have cashews.

I've been avoiding them.

nuts... i was eating BOAT LOADS of them. almonds especially. beware

if you crave something. in my case, craving usually equals allergy.

yeah you are right Rhonda. Beware if you just can't stop (or feel you

don't have to and want to eat the whole bag of anything). When is it ok

to eat a whole bag of anything? In that real world where people are

healthy and such - eating just a handful of nuts is satisfying (and

nutritionally adequate ). For me I could have eaten six lbs and still

would have went looking for more... I did this with peanuts and popcorn..

Rhonda,

I have found that the Complete Candida Guide is not completely right.

It says that you can have fruit and pork and other such things like

organic soup stock... I react to all of these things. 'Tis not so

good... any soup stock has yeast in it. all except the soup stock

you make on your own stove.. When I am feeling better (maybe in a few

months) I will eat almonds, pecans and filberts. From the shell or

freezer. But not the peanuts or the cashews.

Good point about eating a whole bag of anything Marni. Thanks for pointing

that out.

Sigh. Now excuse me while I go in the corner and cry over my lost love, Mr.

Cashew.

While we're on the subject of nuts - I'm confused about the almonds.

s Moritz (The Key to Health and Rejeuvenation) says almonds should be

skinned because there are toxins in the skin. I had always heard otherwise.

Can anyone comment on that?

I have cashews no prob and occasionally roasted salted ones I didn't used to be

ok with any nuts but now fine with almonds, hazlenuts, brazils and cashews

(thank goodness!)

Hey Penny,

I read (and was told) that the only candida friendly nuts out there are

ones in the shell. That way you get the natural oils and nutritional

dealies (sort of like not cutting up your vegetables until right before

you eat, otherwise the nutritional value deteriorates.). Or the only

unshelled nuts good for us is refridgerated or freezer nuts - raw.

Anything sitting out you can bet, has microorganisms growin' on 'em.

I have also heard that roasted nuts are a no-no. Somewhere in the

roasting process things happen and they are more suseptible to bacteria.

Something you can do is soak them overnight in boiling water and that also helps

increase the calcium content
