If you search the list archives using threelac as a keyword, you'll come up with opinions and reviews aplenty. I do not use ThreeLac or Primal Defense.. Guest guest
> > why do you not use either??? There are tons of good probiotics. I don't choose Primal Defense because there are soil-based organisms in it, and organisms native to animals not people. Gastroenterology, a peer- reviewed journal, stated pretty clearly that it may be unwise to introduce foreign bacteria to humans. Other things in PD might include certain yeasts that are transient anyway and will soon be outcompeted. So, I prefer to choose a few bacteria that are native to humans. Also, if one feeds the probiotic bacteria they already have in there, they may not need a probiotic at all. And you're going to need to do that anyway, because probiotics without feed (prebiotics) only work as long as you're taking them. The reason I don't recommend ThreeLac is that I belive bifidobacteria is the most important of the human bowel bacteria. Unfortunately, ThreeLac doesn't contain any. It's undoubtedly good for what it is, but you'd need TWO probiotics. Ingredients: Spore Forming Lactic Acid Bacteria (Lactobacillus Sporogenes), Lemon Juice Powder, Refined Yeast Powder, Castor Oil, Spore Forming Bacteria (Bacillus Subtilis), Lactic Acid Bacteria (Streptococcus Faecalis). I prefer two or three strains of bifidobacteria and one or two strains of lactobacilli, plus sugar-free FOS-free inulin. That more closely follows the research on probiotics and prebiotics, and it works in practice. Duncan Crow
