Thanks for the narrations. We do believe, at least I do coz you are on the ground and probably may be what we see on TV is propaganda who knows.

Thanks and we wish you well. How easy is it for someone to visit you over there?

Aggie,

You or anyone else is welcome to visit. We have a guest bedroom that goes surprisingly empty. ;-) The only hitch is if you tell Israeli security at the airport you are planning to go to the West Bank, they will ask you a lot of annoying questions and possibly not let you in. Springtime is beautiful in Palestine, and the tourist sites are not crowded this year!

Peace,

,

No debate here. I am always fascinated with the view of people living overseas, especially there. I have internet friends in Israel, Iran, India, Holland, England, and now the West Bank. I met a young girl going to graduate school in England. She has told me how her perspective there has changed so immensely. She said there Americans are viewed as Fundamentalist Christians who are going to war for religious reasons and for oil. She also told me the Israeli/Palestine situation was sooo different then we hear.

I love being educated, especially from someone who is fortunate enough to have a broader world view then I have. Thanks soooo much for sharing.

love to you and yours,

Thank you, Nieema. I know that being here is stressful for me, but such is life.... I am stressed anywhere I am, so this is an opportunity for me to learn to manage stress. Living here is not nearly as unsafe as I feared. By the way, are you American? You have an unusual name that sounds close to Arabic.

Someone wrote that what I am saying means the TV accounts of the West Bank are wrong. Not at all. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are under a brutal military occupation that means that most people are unemployed, most children malnourished, most people living in poverty, everyone except the foreigners unable to travel freely -- even within the WB, most people (including my husband) have had land and/or houses stolen, water is limited, and Israeli assassinations in which innocent bystanders are killed are commonplace in the refugee camps. All I can tell you is that I am priviledged by having a salary that is twice what is considered a good salary here (and half what I made with the US government), there have been no assassinations or violent military incursions in my town since I have been living here (1 year), and my passport allows me to travel relatively freely. Please pray for all the people here as well as the Israeli victims of terror.

Some of you will doubtless object to something I have written here. Please let's not start a debate, which would only stress me (and others) more. I am only responding to the questions raised by a member in the most honest way I can.

Best,

GiGi,

Thanks. You're welcome to email me privately any time for more. I just don't want to bore/annoy the others! All the best,
