Guest guest
And even if you aren't allergic to the animal protein (I'm allergic to fish), the animal fat is horrible for those suffering from IBS. I can't touch anything with animal fat - I only eat chicken breast, turkey breast and ostrich. While eating meat is a good thing, especially if you need the calories, caution should be exercised as there are many reasons why meat could be bad for you - growth hormones and antibiotic use in conventionally farmed animals for a start. Guest guest
If your stomach is swollen and painful, chances are you have IBS. You should be avoiding animal fat, dairy, wheat, corn (for most people), and take care with vegetables such as onion, cauliflower, brocolli, brussel sprouts. Taking digestive enzymes and probiotics will help too. Pain killers are likely to destroy your immune system and thereby help the candida grow. Guest guest
Oh really, I never knew the connection. I haven't had beef in nearly a year, but I'll bear that in mind. Thanks, Olif. Guest guest
Correction: Indeed, some people are alergic to shellfish, eggs and some animal protien, but very few. Be careful, there are many vegetarians and animal rights enthusiasts who greatly exaggerate the problem. And again, for those with candida, the best cure of all is meat, eggs, green veggies, and NO sugar or wheat. Might also mention that a high protien diet will improve your skin and hair and if you work out you will create muscle you never had before. Guest guest
That's nonsense. Vegetarians (and I've known quite a few and have been one myself) don't care if you eat meat, usually. Some are a little loopy, but most aren't really interested, as long as they don't have to eat it. As for very few people having problems with meat, that's also nonsense. Anyone could have a sensitivity (note, not an allergy, a sensitivity) to meat of any kind. If you have leaky gut, you can develop a sensitivity to anything you are eating. Guest guest
I'd be careful about Keen's wording below, as the stomach is not involved in IBS. If the 'stomach' seems swollen and painful, it's most likely the adjacent bowel that is affected; the 'transverse colon' as it's called can hold a LOT of gas and the positioning of the swelling is also correct to make it look like 'stomach' gas. The small intestine on the other hand has much smaller diameter and the positioning isn't something that would manifest as something like obviously 'swollen' even if it was the case. Also, transit time in the upper intestine is much faster than in the colon, so accumulation of gas is more transient and reduced in volume. Of course there can be exceptions, but the description seems more like dysbiosis, not SIBO at this point. Neveltheless, prolonged lower bowel dysbiosis can easily lead to SIBO, dysbiosis of the upper intestine, and in IBS there's a 96% probability you have dysbiosis as well, and it led to the SIBO. Prebiotics and pobiotics, along with reduced carb intake, is key to recovery, and reducing aggravating foods will reduce symptoms but not the infection itself. Guest guest
The stomach can fill up with gas produced in the intestines if you are eating sugars and starches that are not digested. The stomach can be irritated if you are immune compromised and H.Pylori are overabundant. I had an immunologist tell me that H.pylori or helicobactor can thrive on High Fructose Corn Syrup. I have not looked into that. Duncan what do you think? Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: I'd be careful about Keen's wording below, as the stomach is not involved in IBS. Guest guest
The greatest fraud in nutrition has been the selling of low fat diets to the public. Notice the comeback of eggs again being recognized as a great source of food for the body. Eating meat is not compassionless, it is accepting how humans came to survive and can continue to be healthy. How could meat possibley be " horrible for the body " , if we have lived so well with it. And in fact the history of most disease is more closely associated wtith the advent of growing grain and making bread. Wheat is a grass and we are not meant to live on grass. Every breast cancer victim I have known was a thin woman trying to live on salads and a low fat diet. steve > > i'm surprised at this. the consumption of meat is horrible for the body, not to mention completely compassionless. > > Keen Venables <kvenables@...> wrote: And even if you aren't allergic to the animal protein (I'm allergic to > fish), the animal fat is horrible for those suffering from IBS.
