I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, but how can an anti-fungal kill bacteria. Anti-biotics kill bacteria, anti-virals destroy viruses, and anti-fungals kill yeast and other fungi. I thought Diflucan was an anti-fungal. in Indy
Guest guest
Hi - Just putting my two cents worth in here. A lot of the people on this list have had experience with prescription drugs for yeast control - myself included - and are no longer willing to take them. With Diflucan, for instance, it is effective for as long as you take it - but stop taking it and your yeast problem will come back even worse than when you began There is also evidence that it is hard on your liver. I haven't taken Diflucan (no health insurance and the stuff is EXPENSIVE!) But my doc did prescribe Nystatin for my 19mo and me. Thing is, I didn't like how I felt while taking it. My husband said I was feeling so badly because the yeast was dying; he suggested I just stick with it to kill everything. But I didn't like the migraines (which I hardly EVER have otherwise) and the pain in my chest/side that felt like a gallbladder attack (even though my gallbladder is gone.) How, though, can yeast come back if you're using a holistic approach (along with Diflucan or some other prescription antifungal?) I mean, if I'm following a strict low-carbohydrate diet (so that the yeast can't feed on what I eat) and I'm using a probiotic to restore the beneficial bacteria in my system, how can it " come back " once you've gotten it all killed off? There's nothing for it to feed on, and presumably you have a healthy bacteria balance in your body. Please don't think I'm trying to argue; I'm just trying to understand. in Indy
Guest guest
, In my case, I was not digesting my food, so there was always something in my small intestine for yeast and bad bacteria to feed on. As soon as I started taking digestive enzymes, the upper gas I had for 30 years was gone, just like that, because there was no more food for the bacteria/yeast to feed on.
