Guest guest
Hi Duncan et all, Just wanted to reccomend a product I have been using. It's called Bio-K.....and is a fermented milk product that comes in what looks similar to little yogurt containers. It is also available in capsules that are just as strong. It contains the strongest live acidophillus out there (save growing your own which sounds very cool and I am going to try). One little container is equal to 250 capsules of average concentration. So you actually get the 50 billion live cells (of single strain acidophillus!) that you need in a day. I have been using it for only a week and already notice HUGE changes to my digestion and stomach discomfort. I am in Ontario, Canada and just pick it up at the local Loblaws grocery store, so I'm not sure about the availability elsewhere. Just thought it might help some others out!! My naturopath swears by it and so far so do I! The only downside is it is about $20 CDN for 6 containers of the fermented milk or 30 capsules. let me know if you try it what you think! ~Micaela Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: > > This was news to me - I thought that ordinary yogurt > with > active bacteria was a probiotic. You are correct; it is. The difference is one of concentration, and also one of perception. Probiotic bacteria do discourage aberrant crypt foci (bowel cancer precursor), but to get the right kind of concentration, eating it, as probiotic capsules, may take about 200 capsules daily, or 200 cups of yogurt may be required. I've done the math on my site and I invite y'all to check the calculation. Using inulin, only few teaspons produce the same result by growing your own. regards, Duncan Crow
Guest guest
Hi Sue - Just jumping in here. It is sold at Zehrs in the Niagara Peninsula - but not with the normal dairy stuff - it's usually in a seperate refrigerator case where the " health foods " are located. You can also buy it at almost any Health Food Store. - p ----- Original Message ----- From: " suzt77 " <suzt77@...> > Did you find it in the dairy section where the yogurt is in Loblaws? > Also in Ontario so would be interested in checking the stuff out. > > Cheers, > > Sue >
Guest guest
A lot of Loblaws have an organic section now. Normally it is there in the fridge with the organix yogurt, soy cheese, organic butter, eggs, etc. *8-) > Hi Micaela, > > Did you find it in the dairy section where the > yogurt is in Loblaws? > Also in Ontario so would be interested in checking > the stuff out. > > Cheers, > > Sue > >
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Sorry for the delay in response, I am in the middle of moving to Toronto and don't have internet hooked up in my new place yet!! Yes I did find it in the dairy department at Loblaws......they also had a lot of other brands of acidophillus and organic yorgurts there! I am really impressed with the Bio-K so far!! I hope you can find some!! Take care, Micaela " M. " <puhutes@...> wrote: A lot of Loblaws have an organic section now.
