Guest guest
Has anyone tried treating a child for Candida? I have a 10 year old who just doesn't have the energy a child should have. When she was 3-5 years old, she was on an antibiotic for about 3 weeks of every month for that entire time for recurrent ear infections. She has recently greatly reduced her dairy intake and somewhat reduced her gluten intake. I am waiting for Kolorex and KandidaPlex to arrive for myself. Both are antifungals. I also ordered Culturelle for a probiotic. I am wondering if I would give her different doses of the antifungals than an adult would receive. I also am unsure if I can convince her to go on a sugar free diet. She has always had quite the sweet tooth. We rarely have sweets in the house, but she also isn't at home 100% of her time. Thanks, Olif
Guest guest
Dear Olif! It sounds a great deal that your daughter might have candida. I was a candida child my self and you certainly should treat her because it might get worse. Consider giving her probiotics and whey. That's how I was treated also reduce sugar and yeast products as much as you can Candida some times makes children weaker but also it might be that your daughter is quiet by nature Please feel free to ask me anything Best wishes to your family Janna
Guest guest
Thank you so much, Janna! I do have some more questions for you. " Consider giving her probiotics and whey. " I am afraid to try whey, because I have high IgG levels for both casein and whey. I was a colicky baby, and my daughter was too. I suspect that she might have a problem with whey. Is there a substitute, and what is the whey for- more protein in the diet? She is pretty good at eating meat for protein. She won't eat eggs, but recently started eating sausage with breakfast, instead of cereals. Can you possibly recommend a brand for a dairy free, liquid probiotic? I know some are better than others. Also, is there a natural antifungal that isn't in a capsule? She has a hard time swallowing pills. " Candida some times makes children weaker but also it might be that your daughter is quiet by nature " I have always been worried, because she is actually naturally very outgoing. She has never been very athletically inclined, although she tries. She does take a martial arts class with me and occasionally wants to sit down because she gets too tired. We homeschool, so it isn't like she is drained from being at school all day. She doesn't run very fast either. Today I asked her if she runs as fast as she can in softball after she hits the ball. She said, " It depends how much energy I have. " Softball is not a high energy game! I really think she shouldn't feel fatigued during that or during an hour and a half karate class. She doesn't take naps during the day, but she does sleep about 10 hours a night. That might be okay for a 10 year old though. She is starting puberty, too, so she will probably sleep a lot for a while. Thanks, Olif
Guest guest
I also forgot to mention that my daughter also seems to catch anything going around. Well, she and I share it, while dh and ds have immune systems apparently built with steel. :-) Thanks, Olif
Guest guest
Solgar makes a children's probiotic, I can't remember the name right now, but I think it is in a powder form. Guest guest
Makes sense - you both have candida overgrowth due to a lowered immune system. You need to boost your immune system and then you will start to recover. Keen Re: Re: candida in children I also forgot to mention that my daughter also seems to catch anything going around. Guest guest
" You need to boost your immune system and then you will start to recover. " Thanks, Keen. And do you think the diet, anitfungal, and probiotic is all that is needed to boost the immunity, or should I be trying something else? We both do take cod liver oil, and I take vitamin C. I should try finding a vitamin C she can take as well. Thanks, Olif
Guest guest
Hi Olif, My dad has been sick with candidiasis for 15 years. He has tried everything, but all the anti candida products he has tried have upset his sensitive system. He can't even take probiotics. However just recently he took a new approach after reading a publication by a doctor who specialises in candida - it is quite simple: just focus on building the strength of the spleen and immune system and let it do the work for you. So by recommendation he is taking vitamin C, enzymes, a B complex, additional B5 (morning) and B6 (night), calcium, and magnesium every day. After 3 months of this, he is finally feeling stronger, and clearer in the head. As for candida in children, my parents and I all got sick at once when we were living in a tropical area and using tank water. There were high amounts of e-coli coming from the tank water. I was 5 at the time. Luckily for me I wasnt drinking anywhere near as much water as my parents (I preferred milk) so I didnt get really sick like them, and I wasnt treated. But it did create a starting point for me to later get sick with candida, after years of eating the wrong foods as a teenager. Cheers, ita > > " You need to boost your immune system and then you will start to recover. " > > Thanks, Keen. Guest guest
My son is 4 years old and I have been struggling with his thinking he had ADHD all along. I started him on Threelac in Feb. as well as a fish oil supp. and Natural Calm (magnesium). He is 80% better and still getting better everyday. The Threelac is a probiotic and very safe for even babies. It's quite expensive, but sure beats going to psychologists, nutritionists, occupational therap/ect..... I think it runs about $50 for a month supply. A friend of mine said she orders hers off of ebay for even cheaper than that. I order mine from the Global Health Track web site. Hope this helps. > > Has anyone tried treating a child for Candida? I have a 10 year old who just doesn't have the energy a child should have. Guest guest
Hi Olif There are many other things you can take to boost your immune system - vitamin C is good, although you should always have Ester C as it is not as acidic. There are various things that will help your immune system - grape seed extract, procidin (which is made from grape seed and pine extract, if I remember correctly), a good multivitamin, spirulina. Try googling and see what else you can come up with. Keen Re: Re: candida in children " You need to boost your immune system and then you will start to recover. " Thanks, Keen. Guest guest
There is a group called " , " and many of the members there are moms of autistic children. Most of them are huge fans of Threelac (which, personally, I would not use with my children!), but aside from that, they may have some great tips for you. Guest guest
It's spelled " threelac. " Be sure to do lots of reseach before using this as it's very expensive when used long-term. McCarthy supposedly cured her son's autism with it, so possibly pick up the book she wrote about it. http://www.amazon.com/Louder-Than-Words-Mothers-Journey/dp/1433211777/ref=pd_bbs\ _1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1210438860 & sr=8-1 I'm not sure why I'm so skeptical about that product. I think the main reason is that it advertises that no dietary changes are necessary, but as most with candida know, that is not true. Re: Candida in children If you don't want to take her to a naturopath doctor, you can always start to cure the candida at home with Treelac. This stuff works great. For removing toxicity you can buy claybaths and that will pull out a lot of toxic stuff without medication.
