I was having bad sugar cravings when I was on the diet

(no longer on it) and my NP told me to eat kiwi and

nuts and they did help.

Hi Kim,

I ear splenda freely without a problem. I make cheesecakes, whip cream,

homemade ice cream with cream and egg yolks and put it in my coffee.

I don't crave sweets so I might make a cheesecake 2 times a month, ice cream

3 times a year. I'm over sugar cravings but splenda is tasty.

Hi guys,

I have a problem. I can do the diet for 7-10 days then I go insane. Ok,

not really insane, but I get uncontrollable cravings for chocolate, and

bread. It really is something I cannot control. I am taking stevia, and

chrominum. I also take multi vitamin, Pau D'arco, B complex, garlic,

acidophphilous, and some other things. Is there anything with sugar

substitutes I can eat on this diet? Anything at all?????????????? I know

you guys don't like sugar substitutes, but are there any that do not affect

the yeast? Thank you , Kim

Hi Pam,

Do I understand correctly that you substitute sugar with Splenda in your

cheesecakes? I hate the taste of the artificial sweetener in diet pop, so if I

do drink pop (very rarely, I may say, I opt for the regular version) but I would

be willing to to try Splenda in a cheesecake (my BF loves cheesecakes). If do

substitute, in what ratio?

Thanks

Alena

Kim,

This is my recipe:

3 pkg cream cheese

5 egg yolks

dash of lemon cool aid (no sugar or sweetener)

tablespoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups splenda

1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

mix together with hand mixer and bake at 300 degrees until done.

or

pour into mini cupcake pan (needs less cooking time)

or

cook in microwave and chill or eat hot.

Thought this info might interest you.

Splenda--

As Dr. Janet Hull writes in her July newsletter, eating sucralose--brand

name Splenda--is like ingesting tiny amounts of chlorinated pesticides.

If this sounds unappealing to you, it certainly doesn't to Splenda's

marketing team, who say they've " done a great job of redefining sweetness. "

Splenda, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in

1988 as a tabletop sweetener and sweetener for an array of other

products, is a chlorocarbon. Chlorocarbons are known to cause organ,

genetic and reproductive damage, which may explain why Splenda has been

found to shrink the thymus gland--a foundation of the immune system--by

40 percent.

According to Dr. Hull, sucralose also causes:

* Swelling of the liver and kidneys

* Calcification of the kidney

* Fertility issues in male rates

* Gastrointestinal problems in pregnant rats

It is especially important to stop using Splenda immediately if you

experience kidney pain, cramping, swelling, an irritated bladder, or

blood in your urine, she says. It is also interesting to note the

information taken directly from a statement from the manufacturer of

Splenda:

'Sucralose is made from sugar, but is derived from sucrose (sugar)

through a process that selectively substitutes three atoms of chlorine

for three hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sucrose molecule. No artificial

sweetener made in the laboratory is going to be neither natural to the

body nor safer than unprocessed sugar.'

Splenda is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar, but the sweetness

is forced, not like a natural sugar the body uses for fuel, says Dr.

Hull. And although corporations say Splenda is safe, they have said the

same thing about aspartame, which is now linked to disease and obesity.

They also claim that the chlorine atoms in Splenda are altered and

therefore safe, yet it's known that any animal that eats chlorine

(especially on a regular basis) is at risk of cancer.

The corporate researchers go on further to say that sucralose is the

most tested food additive in history. They stated, verbatim, the same

thing about aspartame and, according to Dr. Hull, consumers are

witnessing the same state of affairs in many ways.

Dr. Janet Hull Newsletter July 2004

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

Most readers know that I do not recommend using Splenda in any form. For

further information on Splenda you can review my Splenda toxicity page

and read through the many testimonials people have sent in about this

product.

So are you willing to risk your health by consuming something that

closely resembles DDT?

Well, I sure am not and have and will continue to avoid this artificial

sweetener and encourage you to do the same. In fact, I feel so strongly

about this topic that I am in the process of writing a book about

sucralose and its dangers that will be out in 2005.

There is a natural plant that works here as a sweetener. It is called Stevia

is a very sweet herb. 200 to 300 times sweeter than sugar. It has a slight

licorice flavor. It is almost cal free and does not trigger a rise in blood

sugar. It does not feed on yeast or other micro-organisms. It comes in

powder or liquid form. It expensive, but last .

I would suggest you try a small box of splenda first and see if it agrees

with you. It doesn't work here, but know of others that has no problems with

it.

Bravo!!!!!

Fantastic post!!!!!

Let's stop putting poisons in our bodies and eat properly!!!

Most agree that the sweetener options for candida are stevia and xylitol.

Of course you need to try them for yourself and see.
