Guest guest
Hi, I've been on a juice/green veggies/nuts diet for the past three days along with taking SF-722 (as suggested by Tripp's website) at each meal and I have noticed that my throat is feeling weird. My voice is really hoarse. This happened before when I was on Psyllium and Bentonite Shakes so I stopped using them but I wonder if this could be a die off reaction. My main problems with candida have been constant bloating, yeast infections, and athelete's foot. I just want some ideas about why this might be happening. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi magicwriter - ask your doctor to give you a full thyroid function test and to test to see if you have antibodies to your thyroid. You could be suffering with Hashimoto's disease. This is a CAUSE of hypothyroidism and the antibodies destroy your thyroid tissue. When you get your results, post them here on the forum together with the reference range for each of the tests. The full thyroid function test should cover TSH, Free T4 and Free T3. Luv - Sheila Hi, I have had an underactive thyroid for some years now, but recently I have had a lot of problems with a dry mouth and a feeling of having something stuck in the base of my throat, just above the windpipe area. I am constantly coughing and sometimes feel as though I am choking when I eat. No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. Guest guest
Hi - just to say my daughter has had the same symptoms and the doctor wanted to put her on antibiotics because her tonsils were so large, but I took her off wheat and dairy and the tonsils shrank again and she's fine... I think the size of her tonsils was making her feel she had something stuck in her throat all the time, which makes sense doesn't it? A similar thing happened to my son when he was 3, his large tonsils meant he was continually congested and got glue ear and night sweats. The doctors wanted to remove his tonsils and adenoids and give him grommets, but we first tried taking him off wheat and dairy and egg, and his tonsils shrank and all the symptoms went away. Just something to try... if it's going to work you should notice a difference after two weeks of strictly no dairy. The wheat takes much longer to get out of your system but if just stopping the dairy has no effect I'd try stopping the wheat too... I think I read somewhere that these problems can be related to the thyroid in some way... but I'm not sure. J
Guest guest
Hi , thanks for the message I will definitely give a try by cutting the dairy and wheat from my diet, and will post back if it make the difference. I have a problem with a slightly enlarge thyroid gland for a couple of year but I only occasionally felt uncomfortable as if something expand in my throat, however the symptoms disappears after a day or two. I didn't do anything about it before. Until I had a blood test done in Dec last year, TSH was 7.8 so my GP told me to the antibody test, the result was very high, I have another blood test done beginning of Feb, TSH was 8.5, my GP started me on thyroxine (50mg) from Feb. After starting the treatment, my neck appears to be bigger and I could feel the pain in the throat which never goes. I went to see my GP beginning of March, and told her I was not feeling well. Surprisingly I had the blood test result back, TSH is 4.6, which is showing improvement according to the doctor. I just joined the forum last week and start to read the messages, thanks for all who support this. I don't know if my TSH test includes free T3 and T4 etc, will go back to check with my GP. Guest guest
Hi Magicwriter, It could be that your thyroid is swollen and that is pressing on and irritating other tissues- which is triggering the cough. How long has this been going on for- I've had a tickly cough with no other symptoms for the past couple of weeks, but it seems to be subsiding now. But choking when you eat does sound more like a swollen thyroid- you'd have thought ENT would have noticed............ Guest guest
Hello Magicwriter, I have coughed on and off for getting on for a year, blamed everything under the sun, but had a scan on my thyoid (agaain) three weeks back and got referred to a surgeon due to it's increasing size. I don't choke so much, but coughing attacks come on straight after eating or drinking. Radiologist feels this is pressure from the goitre. If an enlarging thyoid begins to grow down as opposed to out problems can occur. Perhaps your Dr will send you for a scan and some thryoid bloods if you ask. I don't have Hahi's either, much to my surprise as it's the most common form of thyroid problem. My antibody tests return negative. Enjoy Wednesday. xx > > Hi, I have had an underactive thyroid for some years now, but recently I have had a lot of problems with a dry mouth and a feeling of having something stuck in the base of my throat, just above the windpipe area. Guest guest
HI Lorraine - write a letter to your doctor with a copy to your head of practice. In that letter list all of your symptoms (and signs). You can check these against those in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk - click on Hypothyroidism in the Menu, and in the drop down Menu, click on 'Symptoms and Signs'. Check particularly the signs, these are what others can see or feel. Take your basal temperature for 5 days and write these down next to your symptoms also. Normal temperature is 98.6. If yours is 97.8 or less (and it could be much less) this is a sign your metabolism is running too low and you could be hypothyroid. List whether there are any members of your family who have a thyroid problem or an autoimmune disease. Tell your GP in the letter that even though your thyroid function tests are within the reference range, you would like to be referred to an endocrinologist to get a second opinion, which you are entitled to as your GP is not a specialist. Ask for the letter to be placed in your medical notes. Quite often, a GP will start to listen to you once you put it in writing. In the letter, ask for a full thyroid function test, including a test to check your Ferritin level (stored iron), Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3, magnesium, zinc and copper and tell him/her you are asking for these tests because you are aware that if any one of them are low, they will be stopping your thyroid hormones from working as they should, and you would need supplementing in whatever you are low in. Luv - Sheila I have a Dr's appointment on Monday as yet another course of antibiotics have not made any difference, I shall definately be asking for a full thyroid function test, although my latest blood test came back 'within normal range' whatever that means!. The ENT guy reckons I have rhinitis and gave me steroid drops/sprays, but they have not cured the feeling of a 'lump'. Am just going to look up Hashimotos Disease as well, to see if it could be that. Another of my 'symptoms/problems' which seems to be getting worse is the feeling cold all the while. Most woman my age are constantly complaining of having hot flushes while I am always moaning about how cold I feel! Will keep you informed now I have found you again.
