I am in the same boat as you and still haven't found a cure. I have

tried diflucan (10 days in a row), over the counter stuff, various

prescription antifungals and they always come back right after my

period ends. The only thing that really keeps the bugs somewhat

under control is inserting acidophillus suppositories I make myself.

I have the boric adic the pharmacy made for me, I tried it for 2

nights but the burning was absolutely horrible so back to

acidophillus...

I do have a question for you. Where do you get Femina Flora? I

would love to try something I don't have to make myself.

> I have had constant vaginal yeast symptoms for over three years. So

severe that I was not able to wear underwear for months and it was

painful to walk. Now my symptoms have greatly improved because I

haven't eaten sugar, dairy, etc. for 6 months and I have been taking

probiotics. However the symptoms have never completely gone away (I

feel some vaginal itchiness and soreness every day) and I am unable

to have sex with my husband or the symptoms completely flare up again.

weeks straight. This seemed to help but not completely. Then for 10

days I inserted probiotics (Femina Flora) and now for the last two

nights I am back to boric acid suppositories. However my symptoms are

still there.

Femina Flora is made by New Roots Herbal Inc. www.newrootsherbal.com. I bought

it at my local health food store. It is essentially acidophillus suppositories.

I asked the clerk how they are different from regular acidophillus since I was

about to pay $26 CAN for only 10 pills. She said that the capsule itself is made

from material that easily breaks down vs. regular acidophillus capsules whose

capsules are made to withstand stomach acid and would not break down in the

vagina which would be necessary in order to be effective. I am not sure whether

this is true or not but hey I am willing to try anything at this point. Each

capsule contains 5 billion live active cells, from a blend of L. Rhamnosus B,

L.Acidophilus, S. Thermophilus and L. Bulgaricus. The instructions are to use

one pill each night at bed for 10 nights.

If you hear of any other ideas please let me know and I will do the same.

Thanks,

Steph

What she said is true, I tried the oral probiotics and they didn't

really disolve vaginally.

Infortunately I don't think we have femina flora here in us yet. oh

well.

Your story is my story completely!!! Only I have had it for almost 30 years!!!!

Yikes!

Horrible.

And it has been very horrible!

What is very helpful for me right now is eating coconut oil, and also using it

as a suppository.

Also, drinking my home made raw milk kefir has been the beginning of new health

for me!

I'm with you!

Make sure you get gluten out of your diet too!

At that site there are just generators and saunas for sale. Or is that what you

mean - use on of those machines with olive oil?

A vaginal probiotic suppository is one called Fermelac I'll check the spelling

later to confirm if that's correct but you can search it on google and there's a

company in Calgary that should send it to you. Also Gyn-natren is another that

I've tried. Neither one cure the problem for me but did give a limited relief.

Currently the chronic/monthly vaginal symptoms are my only real problem. I do

have a hormone imbalance that may be the underlying cause of this so I'm in the

middle of getting to the bottom of that. You may want to request a full hormonal

panel be done by your doctor approximately a week prior to menses for the best

picture if you are still pre menopause. If post menopause I'm not sure when the

best time would be but I suppose it could be any time. If anything at all is

slightly off I'd push to see an endocrinologist. That's the first md that's done

any investigating for me at all since this all started. The diet etc has helped

with all the other symptoms but this one

keeps coming back like a bad penny.

Best of luck and if anyone finds something that keeps them away let us all know!

Sue, I would be very interested in what you find out about your hormonal

imbalance!

I have the same problems and have always thought of seeing an endocrinologist,

but did not really want to go that route unless absolutely necessary.

But I would very much like to know what you find out!

Thanks!

Hi Steph,

www.plasmafire.com is the right address for ozonated olive oil. Email

Dr. Pressman if you must, make it fast as he does not ship when the

I tried to find Fermelac on the Net but I didn't receive many results. A

company, Berry Technologies came up on my search but when I went into their

product list under vaginal items they didn't have anything listed. Is this the

correct company? I couldn't find Gyn-natren anywhere either. Where did you find

it?

At your suggestion, I am going to get a hormonal panel completed. I have been

wondering if that is part of the problem as I have other issues I believe are

hormonal in nature.

The same thing with me - the diet has helped with almost all other symptoms

except vaginal.

Thanks for the tips,

Steph

Debby,

I follow the exact same diet as on the website you suggest. That is why I am

frustrated because I have been so strict with my diet which has definitely

improved my candida but significantly when it comes to vaginal symptoms.

I feel like there is a missing piece?? Something in addition to candida...?

Hi Sue

To balance your hormones you should try Evening

Primrose Oil. 3000mg a day (1000xmorning, 1000xlunch,

1000xevening).

They also say that you will not get rid of vaginal

thrush until you have balanced Candida in your colon.

So get cleansing, Liver, Kidneys and Colon.

Hi Steph

If you go on to the curezone site you will find Dr

Hulda s recipes for all the cleanses. In

particular the liver flush, you will be amazed at the

amount of rubbish that you will eliminate from your

body, from mucoid plaque that builds up on the

intestinal wall to cholesterol stones that clog the

liver.

Enema's are another way to help cleanse the colon,

again you will see threads of Candida coming out.

I paint an horrific picture but you will feel great

when you start to cleanse the body.

I've done about five liver flushes so far and produced

quite a few cholesterol stones in the process.

I also take a herb called Chanca Piedra, this helps

break down kidney stones, gallstones and muciod

plaque. You can buy it on line at

http://search.store./cgi-bin/nsearch?catalog=hono & query=chancra+piedra & \

..autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fstore.%2Fhono%2Fnsearch.html

Hope this helps.

OK, well for starters, have you had the vaginal

symptoms diagnosed as candida? Perhaps it's some

other type of infection such as vaginitas or an STD???

Sorry, hope that doesn't offend, just trying to think

of all the angles.

The diet helps so much to cure the body, but I truly

believe that technology got is in this mess, and so

technology can get us out. The diet alone may not do

it by itself. If you have had the discharge diagnosed

as candida, then in addition to the diet, look at

other factors.

Here's some suggestions:

- Take Diet supplements (Candida supplements, garlic,

coconut oil, etc.)

- Could your partner be reinfecting you?

- Wear Cotton underwear

- Airing out the area - a fan helps - candida breed in

moist dark areas with sugar, etc.

- Thorough washing of undergarments and a few seconds

in the microwave for undergarments to kill everything

- Boric Acid suppositories

- Laundry detergent

Try different combinations of these things too.

> I feel like there is a missing piece?? Something in

> addition to candida...?

I know how frustrating it can be. Health issues can

be very complex to diagnose. That's why I tend to try

as many things as I can, and come to places like this

and try different suggestions until I find what works.

Hi Debby,

Everything else has been ruled out so I am pretty sure it is candida. I have

tried all of the suggestions you offered except the laundry detergent and

microwaving underwear and I am pretty sure these two things alone cannot be the

reason it is persisting. That is why I am thinking that although I am sure I

have candida there must be something causing the vaginal candida to persist. I

will keep searching. Thanks for your suggestions and thanks to others who are

sending me other suggestions!

Hi ;

I am doing all that good stuff. However, it would appear that I have an

underlying endocrine issue that may is complicating matters so although I'm

taking primrose (3000 a day) I feel that perhaps my lack of progress over the

last couple of months is due to a congenital defect in my adrenals. I may have

to go on medication for this but in the end my only reason to go on Rx for this

would be to get over the vag. candida each month.

I'm waiting on the 3rd blood work and for a CT scan to help confirm the

tentative diagnosis. So the primrose has helped to a tiny degree but really the

adrenal problems are a much stronger beast than the primrose can deal with I

think.

I take the supplements, I do the cleanses for over a year now and the only thing

left for me is the monthly vag. troubles.

Someone mentioned microwaving your " gitch " but I've also heard that an iron on a

high heat setting is a good way to go or boiling your undies for about 5 minutes

in a pot on the stove.

Cheers

The laundry detergent could be a big factor if it is scented. I uses

unscented for my whole families underwear, it can hurt. I do boil my

undies, but I always wonder " if the yeast are still living in me,

does it really matter if I kill them in my underwear " . I could see

this working if you were actually killing those bugs vaginally. But

since it is so easy to boil them, I just do it.

The big thing I found that what works for me is making probiotic

suppositories. Keeps the yeasties in check, though they come back

after every period. I tried the boric acid, it burned so bad, I only

did it 2 days. I still have 12 suppositories left from the

pharmacy. I may try again next month and see if it doesn't burn so

much.

laundry detergent and microwaving underwear and I am pretty sure

these two things alone cannot be the reason it is persisting. That is

why I am thinking that although I am sure I have candida there must

be something causing the vaginal candida to persist. I will keep

searching. Thanks for your suggestions and thanks to others who are

sending me other suggestions!

Yes, it's from Berry Technologies. I was sure I saw it for purchase on their

site before. Maybe you can call them

Gy-natren is the correct spelling of the other product. Sorry for that. If you

search through search engine you will find where you can buy it.

I have to say that neither one cured the problem but perhaps I didn't take them

for long enough but the gyn. said that if Fermelac helped that I would have to

use it every 3 months.

I tried their website as well and they don't seem to show it there but I know

that's where the box I had came from. Maybe try the contact us link and see what

they say. I don't think an Rx is required so you may be able to ask your

pharmacist about getting it. If you're in canada I know Shopper Drug Mart can't

get it but Guardian pharmacy can.

Hope that helps,

Sue

I tried to find Fermelac on the Net but I didn't receive many results. A

company, Berry Technologies came up on my search but when I went into their

product list under vaginal items they didn't have anything listed. Is this the

correct company? I couldn't find Gyn-natren anywhere either. Where did you find

it?

At your suggestion, I am going to get a hormonal panel completed. I have been

wondering if that is part of the problem as I have other issues I believe are

hormonal in nature.

The same thing with me - the diet has helped with almost all other symptoms

except vaginal.

Thanks for the tips,

Steph

Cheers

Sue

I wish my vaginal symptoms were only once a month; unfortunately mine are every

day. I will definitely try changing my detergent and boiling or ironing as

suggested.
