Guest guest
For snacks, I will make some corn tortilla chips and homemade salsa (lots of good recipes online) with a lot of black beans in them for higher protein. I also tend to eat Hebrew National Hot dogs, kefired milk, and yogurt (plain adding cinnamon and stevia) a LOT. Meredith http://tinyurl.com/2l7tw My Ebay Sales Snack Ideas? Please help I have to carry food around with me (for my hypoglycemia) but am having a hard time finding something that really works. I need it to be a quality protein, but would also like low fat/low carb. Any ides? Nuts? Seeds? Some type of jerky? I tried a beef jerky, but it was too salty. The so-called " protein bars " have so much other junk in them, I don't think they are a healthy Candida option. I'm really struggling to find something. Please help. Thanks
Guest guest
How about raw almonds? I realize they aren't " low in fat " , but they're good for you. I remove the skins (apparently there's something in the skin that isn't the best) - and sometimes I toast them (again, better raw but oh how wonderful they taste toasted!!) good luck ----- Original Message ----- From: " tobihorse " <tobihorse@...> > I have to carry food around with me (for my hypoglycemia) but am > having a hard time finding something that really works. Guest guest
I think the skin has enzyme inhibitors, or is antimicrobial (or both). I soak mine in water overnight, then the skin comes off very easily. I eat 10 everymorning. More than that can be too hard to digest. And, these are good fats, not to worry about that. g > How about raw almonds? I realize they aren't " low in fat " , but they're good > for you. Guest guest
This is hardest thing I have run into. This is why so many people are not healthy, is we don't sit down to eat at home as much or are on the run so much. I also have struggled with this issue. I use a product called Revival soy bar because it helps my hormones but it has sugar in it and many people feel eating soy isn't so hot but it satisfies my appetite and is better than other choices I have sometimes and same as you, I get low blood sugar and can *not* go hungry without getting a migraine or feeling really run down. I was doing organic trail mix for awhile but got sick of it and maybe got actually 'sick' of it, eating alot of it may not be good, not always clean, sometimes nuts get moldy, etc. > I have to carry food around with me (for my hypoglycemia) but am > having a hard time finding something that really works. Guest guest
The Food Safety section of the government says that a hard boiled egg is ok up to 2 hours outside the refrigerator before any problems might occur. You could boil, salt, cut and wrap a boiled egg for good protein. Just don't add mayo. Take a piece of high protein bread, some carrot sticks and you have lunch. Or, if you're on the road a lot during the day, take a little ice chest to keep eggs, chicken or turkey in. Also, some corporation buildings have a refrigerator in the employee break room where you could refrigerate high protein snacks. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/OA/pubs/shelleggs.htm Sandy
