Guest guest
I have a few years on you girls. I'm 54. For a couple of years I used a very low estrogen patch and progesterone for a few days every THREE months instead of every month. The progesterone made me depressed so we used it as little as possible. Went off that, had a few more hot flashes and then they went away until RECENTLY! Now they are back, especially at night. I was wondering if Ultracet might have something to do with that? I, too, have a ceiling fan over my bed and have been known to pull the chains with my toes! LOL Dress in layers! Throw away turtle necks or anything around your neck. Always have a clip or scrunchie so you can twist your hair up. Short of that I have found a bic pencil does well! Drink LOTS of cold water and if it is very hot outside put an ice pack on top of your head! Okay you look dorky, but it sure helps! From what I have read there is no research to support soy as being helpful. This was one of the more recent studies. There are also a few antidepressants that will help with hot flashes about 50% of the time. Guest guest
oh, yeah, that reminds me of the hair tip I intended to include. Several years ago, I decided to braid my hair into a bunch of tiny braids on the first day of summer vacation. It was so cool and comfortable, because the sweat could evaporate off my head very easily. That was back when I was riding my bike 6 miles every morning, and I loved being able to ride with my hair loose. It seems to me like putting it in a ponytail is hot. I loved my braids so much, that I kept them for about 8 years until grad school took too much of my time for me to keep braiding my hair every month. Plus, I had beads at the end, and they were great for helping convince folks to keep their distance I haven't owned any clothing with long sleeves for over 10 years now. > > Dress in layers!
