Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I think and am Hypothyroid and have a Goiter. Since June 25th 2004, my neck has been swollen just below the apple and on the left side just above the collar cone. My doctor did some simple thyroid blood test and told me that they were a little high, that meant my thyroid was a little low. These were my results as of 6/28/04: T3-1.7 H, T4-9.6, TSH-4.810 H, IRON 30 L, LDH 222 H, TRIGYLCERIDES 168 Hf. I also had a Thyroid Ultra Sound that came back normal. I have been reading and doing my own research and believe that I am hypothyroid. I believe that I have goiter due to the lack of Iodine. I have been a Lacto-ova-vegetarian for 8 years. I was put on blood pressure meds over 2 /12 years ago and told to stop using table salt, so I did. Several months prior to my neck swelling, I had stopped taking vitamins and was eating less and less dairy and eggs. I have had many symptoms of Hypothyroid for several years and didn't know why. Symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, abnormal menstrual cycles. Since July 1st 2004 I started taking vitamins again, stopped consuming caffeine and carbonated beverages, and have been eating more raw fruits and veggies except for Goitrogens. Goitrogens are foods which suppress thyroid function. Goitrogens can induce hypothyroidism and goiter when eaten in large quantities). Some articles I read say to take Kelp tablets (a form of Iodine) while other articles say not to. I am so confused and finding this is becoming depressing. I do not want to be put on more meds and would like to remedy this naturally with healthy nutrition if possible. Medications I take for high blood pressure and acid reflux... HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG (Diuretic), TENORMIN 100MG (Beta blocker). Every other day I take... ACIPHEX 20MG (Gastroesophageal) Thank you in advance for any help in this matter that you may provide. -Angelplus
