Guest guest
Hillary had me pretty well faked out. It wasn't looking good. Between conferences, etc., Dr. Rand and Dr. Woodard wouldn't be available to do their pas de deux until at least mid-October. But she was going to make one last-ditch effort to ask Dr. Woodard's office for the Aug. 25 date. Meanwhile she was kind enough to schedule my knee MRI here in NH because they wouldn't deal with me directly (and the hospital where I've had previous MRIs isn't on my new insurance company's 100% reimbursement list). And meanwhile I was thinking of all the garden work I could get done before October, while bemoaning the fact that my sister wouldn't be available to come help out after surgery. So a little while later Hillary calls to tell me she's got the MRI appointment for me, and oh, by the way, Dr. Woodard's office says it's a go for Aug. 25. Uh, huh. And stage 2 will be Sept. 5. Uh, nothing later? I don't get to do this Vonnie-style, or go back in a month like Kam, slow but lots of time to recover in between? Nope. Hillary said it was 10 days. Actually its 11, but who's counting?! Day after Labor Day, uh, huh. It is unbelievable how long it has taken to get to this point, ignoring the 4 or 5 years that I procrastinated (i.e. cowered.) I think it was May '05 the first time I got Priscilla on the phone and timidly asked for an appointment. Somehow the July appointment turned into December, and here I am half a year after that, with dates for my revision. MY revision, AGH! It's WAY easier to talk about everyone else's revisions, and offer encouragement, kind words, a listening ear. After all this time, why does Aug. 25 seem TOO DARNED SOON?
