I know we've got users of Wilderness Family Natuals coconut oil in our

group. I'd love to hear from anyone who uses it as to what variety of

their oil do you buy (their website says they have 3 kinds:

Traditional ine, Centrifuge extracted and expeller pressed) and

how it tastes.

Does it have a strong, med. or mild coconut flavor?

Does is have a strong, med. or mild coconut aroma?

thanks!

+++Chris. No, do not take any refined coconut oil of any kind.

I had the same question and just bought some from WFN. I didn't see any of

their oil that wasn't refined. I'm confused.... Can you please tell us

which oil is not refined, 'cause the ones I saw all were. I bought from

them to support you, but now it sounds like their product is not approved?

Please help clarify!

Thanks!

The act of removing the coconut oil from the meat is " refining " .

When you read don't buy " refined " coconut oil, it is talking about

oils that are extracted chemically as these chemicals leave residues

vs physical refining such as centrifuge or expeller pressed. The

Tropical Traditions is probably one of the least refined and best

coconut oils you can buy (if you can afford it).

,

I just checked out their website. When I clicked on " Information on

coconut oil " , it brings up a page that's titled, " Find the coconut oil

that is right for you " and shows three products. Their fermented

coconut oil and their centrifuged oil both say, " extra virgin " raw

coconut oil - that's what you want as it's not refined. The other one

says it's expeller pressed and when you click into it it shows

" refined " in parenthesis next to it - the one you don't want.

+++Hi . When you click on the 3 types of coconut oil, the 3rd one

is the only one that is Refined - see this:

+++, see this page where I only recommend 2 of the 3 coconut oils

available at Wilderness Family:

I do not recommend the Expeller Pressed one.

+++Hi Patty. TT isn't the only coconut oil that is the least

refined. Nutiva and Garden of Life are also great!

Here's Nutiva: http://nutiva.com/products/10_coconut.php

Here's information on Garden of Life Extra Virgin: " Unlike refined

coconut oils, Garden of Life Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is not

hydrogenated, bleached, refined or deodorized. It is produced using

the same methods Filipino farmers have used for thousands of years.

Meat extracted from only the freshest, organically grown coconuts is

shredded and cold-pressed to make coconut milk. The milk is left to

ferment 24-36 hours, during which time the oil separates. The end-

product is an aromatic coconut oil that retains its taste, aroma and

nutritional value for a very long time. In fact, Garden of Life Extra

Virgin Coconut Oil has a longer shelf life than any other plant oil. "
