A quick comment on the hair loss - when I have a lupus flare, the first sign I usually have is hair loss, all over, and lots of it. Fortunately, I have extremely thick hair, so most people don't notice, and I've never actually had any bald spots. Anyway..... I asked the rheum about it and his take on the hair loss is that the hair follicles are also affected by inflammation, hence they get damaged and fall out. I'm assuming this would also apply to AIH.
