Guest guest
Hi All, Well, I finally had my first SI Joint injection, yesterday. After agonizing over it and being terrrribly fearful of it, I must tell you it was the proverbial piece of cake!!! Of course, a 10mg tablet of valium one hour ahead of time surely helped my attitude. But, honestly, the procedure hardly hurt at all. Barely worth saying ouch. Maybe that whole area is perpetually numb to some extent? I had a facet joint injection before my revision surgery and that was terribly painful. But, I had a spinal tap last year (7 years post revision) and didn't feel a thing, literally. This SI Joint injection I felt, but it was nothing compared to the facet joint injection. The doc remarked again how very badly arthritic my SI Joint is. Now the big question is did it work? Almost immediately after it was done, the doc asked me to stand and to tell him if I had any pain stemming from the SI Joint (through the buttock, into the thigh). I didn't. He explained that that was because of the numbing medication, not the cortisone and that I wouldn't really know if it worked for from one day to up to a week. But, I believe that by the numbing medication having worked, he decided he had at least injected me in exactly the right spot. As he said it would, pain recurred last night when the numbing medication wore off. I felt good this morning, but I usually feel good after a good night's sleep. The really good news is that I went to book club this morning from 10-noon, then out to lunch and did not get home till 3 pm and did just fine. I am hoping this is a really good sign! I'll let you know. Bonnie [ ] update on June Hi everyone~ I only have a few minutes but wanted to pop in and give you all an update on June! She had her revision surgery on Monday as you know...her husband Bill called me yesterday to let me know that she went into surgery a little before 8am and Dr Errico came out to report to him between 4:00 and 4:30 pm that she was did well and that the plastic surgeon was closing her up. He put in a plate in anteriorly and rebuilt a few vertebrae and used longer screws this time. Bill said that he got to see her yesterday for the first time and said that she was a bit more coherent than the last time she had her revision done. He said that he would call me again today and let me know how things were going, so I will try to get down here to my mom's house and let you all know what is happening! I hope that you all have a wonderful day! SuzieQ Find Great Deals on Holiday Gifts at
