Guest guest
Hi group, I've been doing okay on my synthroid, however as a poor college student, asked my Dr. if there was a generic substitute. She said... " levoxyl would be the closest, although may give you the runs. " Levoxyl is half the price.. do any of you take it? have you noticed adverse reactions? do you think it's as good as the synthroid? Thanks, Sue
Guest guest
Just bumping this. I've been thinking about this: would 50 micrograms be the same as 0.5 grams? Does anyone know? Thanks, Louise. > > I take thyroxine and Armour and I wanted to try Levoxyl instead of Eltroxine; but when I looked on IP Levoxyl isn't measured in micrograms it's measured in mg similar to Armour. Does anyone understand what the equivalent to, say, 50 micrograms would be? Or is it impossible to convert? > > Thanks, > Louise. >
Guest guest
Yes luv - Sheila … would 50 micrograms be the same as 0.5 grams? Does anyone know? Thanks, Louise.
Guest guest
Thanks Sheila :0) I wanted to switch to Levoxyl because, although I know it's not hypo-allergenic, it is free of lactose and one or two other things that thyroxine usually contains; so I thought it was worth a try. I'll let you know how I get on. Louise. > > Yes > > > > luv - Sheila > > > > . would 50 micrograms be the same as 0.5 grams? Guest guest
Hi Louise, No, a microgram or mcg or mu is a thousandth of a gram so 5g is 500mcg. Subject: Re: Levoxyl Just bumping this. Guest guest
I found a conversion site ;0) 0.05mg = 50 micrograms. Thanks everybody, Louise. > > Hi Louise, > No, a microgram or mcg or mu is a thousandth of a gram so > 5g is 500mcg. > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
Hi Louise, This is the (in)famous Boots problem ~ they mis-labelled their selenium supplement in mg ( milligrams not micrograms) and had to withdraw the entire distribution and take down their website information which was also wrong. It was reported to Trading Standards but no public recall was ever issued. This was just before the company went 'Private' not public ~ it could have affected the sale of the business, so was of immediate public interest, since it could have affected the price paid to buy out the share-holders......like pension funds. It affects the negotiating position of all parties in these circumstances and should have been made public as of material interest to them all. And especially when that same proposed new private business is negotating secret long-term contracts with the government, who have the public interest at heart (so say). Hopefully, no ministers had a finger in that pie (or snout in trough). best wishes Bob It's OK we won't say who took up a position with that newly privatised organisation after the deals were signed. No impropriety, obviously! 0.05mg is 50 microgram...perhaps given in mg to avoid possible confusion. > > I take thyroxine and Armour and I wanted to try Levoxyl instead of Eltroxine; but when I looked on IP Levoxyl isn't measured in micrograms it's measured in mg similar to Armour. Guest guest
Hello You have part of this right and part it wrong. Indeed it takes a thousand micrograms (mcg) to be a milligram (mg). So 50 micrograms is 0.05 milligrams. So 5 mg is 5,000 mcg and 0.5 mg is 500 mcg. Have a great day hanging together, > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > TPA is not medically qualified.
