Edie,

Wow! Thanks for writing all of that out. It's so helpful to see

all of the details there and to have an idea of what to expect

physically and emotionally after my own revision. You really sound

like you're doing great, and I hope everything continues to go well

for you during your recovery :)

Thanks everyone, as always, for all the encouragement. I do hope it is helpful

to share my

experience, but understand that everyone is different, and will bring a

different spin to

their recovery. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a postitive

attitude

about yourself, your body, and your recovery, even when times are tough.

I'm a bit of a pragmatist, and don't like to baby myself (but I do try to take

good care of

myself) and so I'm not much of one to sit around feeling sorry for myself. The

depression

associated with this type of massive interventive surgery is just par for the

course...but it

may be helpful to be aware of its possibility beforehand just so it doesn't come

as a shock.

It does pass.

Also, do as much research and understanding of your procedure as you can.

Knowledge is

power. And you won't be in for as many rude shocks. It helps also to

differentiate what is

the " normal " parts of recovery from things you may need to discuss with your

doctor

immediately. Which leads met to this...My mom broke her hip in January, and upon

discharge from the hospital, they gave her a great little summary about normal

things you

will feel after any type of major surgery. I am going to dig it up now, and post

it for you

all. It's incredibly helpful, and should be given out to all patients

everywhere, as far as I'm

concerned.

Oh yes, one last thing. I re-read my post, and I meant to write PUBLIC

transportation, not

PUBIC. I find pubic transportation to be a little itchy!

Once again, thanks for the kind words...will let you know how it goes next week.
