Guest guest
Hi all, Many thanks go out to Edie, Tami and Melinda for your well wishes on my up-coming surgery on Monday. Tami and Melinda - I am in Amarillo now and looked in the phone book, I don't see a listing for Luby's. There is another cafeteria right near our hotel which is only a little over a mile from the hospital. I can see it from our hotel room but not the name. It is brand new. We are staying at the Homewood Suites right across the freeway from the Westgate Mall. There is also a big movie theatre on this side of the freeway. There is also a brand new Drury Inn at this location and a Comfort Inn & Suites right next door. In the front of the hotel is a Red Robin (great hamburger place). Here at the Homewood Suites we have a living room, kitchen and separate bedroom with 2 queen size beds in it and a pull out couch in the living room. Right now it's just my husband, our son and myself. Tomorrow our daughter will be coming in from Colo. Springs bringing my dad who is visiting her from Orlando, FL and also my little brother from Dallas. Every morning we have a cooked breakfast (waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, and misc cereals, breads and yogurts). Monday thru Thursday there is a cooked dinner from 5 to 7 pm with complimentary wine and beer. The dinners are pretty basic meals with salad bar. Some examples Grilled chicken, Meatloaf, Fajitas, Spaghetti and meatballs, tacos, chicken stir fry all served with a vegteable and a starch. I have to check in Monday morning at 5:30 am to start around 7 to 7:30 am. Dr. LaGrone said it should take about 6 to 8 hours. He will definetly be taking out the rods from T12 to the sacrum. He will then do a PSO osteotomy at L2 with possible multiple osteotomies high up. He will be freeing up a small part where my nerve is pinched a little bit, fusing the transitional vertabrae on my sacrum and reinstumenting to about S2 or 3. He will also be adding the pelvic instrumentation and looking very closely for any unfused areas. My C7 is 14 cm to far forward of my sacrum, that's the reason for the one big osteotomy and the multiply smaller ones. Also it seems as if I have rotated some in the last few months. Hence, the reason why he will be looking very closely for any unfused areas or screws that have come loose. He said I can still take all of my meds the night before including the anti-aniexty medicine that I got about 2 weeks ago. said in the morning they will have the anestesiologist come see me pretty quick so he can do his little interview and then give me the Versed earlier than normally given. If anybody in your families like to mountain bike make sure they bring their bikes. There are fantastic trails at Palo Duro Canyon and about 1 mile from the hotel the Girl Scouts have a large mountain biking area. When you get to their gate, the ground just looks flat, but after you park and walk a little closer there's this canyon that appears. It's a pretty deep valley. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them. Thanks again for the well-wishes!
