To the Chatterton Family,

When I first started taking Prednisone and Imuran, I couldn't sleep either.

And I was told to watch the sodium intake (which could account for the

swelling)... I spent hours in the grocery store reading labels. Both were

side effects of the prednisone. As far in information on the medications,

check your local library or bookstore for a copy of Physicians Desk

Reference. IMHO, I try natural things to help one sleep... warm chamomile

tea, or a bath or sometimes just having a routine can help. Perhaps mild

exercise, like a walk, might help. Good luck!

Subject: [ ] info on AIH

Date: Saturday, September 25, 1999 11:44 PM

My mom has been diagnosed with AIH. She didn't have a biopsy, they just used

blood tests. Should she have one? She was started on 4omg. of prednisone

and became very irate, she couldn't sleep, just not herself. She is now

taking 20mg. and is beginning to have trouble sleeping again. Can the pred.

build up to make a person become upset, what could help her sleep? She has

always hated taking medicine and is terrified of these drugs. She has just

begun taking Imuran. I'm having trouble finding info about this drug. Does

AIH cause swelling in the lower legs and feet? She been trying a

diuretic, but its not helping much. She has already been diagnosed with

osteoporosis and has been taking Evista. We're just looking for any advice.

What kind of diet, what about Tylenol,is she at higher risk for

illnesses{flu, colds, etc.}while on the pred.? We just want to try to be

proactive. She is also trying to care for my dad who has progressive supra

nuclear palsy. Thanks for the help.
