Guest guest
Sherrie, how much is 2 tablets of Armour in mg? IMO you need more Armour and Iodoral--you can take 50mg Iodoral for 3 months and then decrease dose. you should be getting progesterone too. gracia > Hello! Guest guest
Dear Sherrie, I had exactly the same problems when I was on T4 meds only (I took as much as 250 mcg a day without any real improvement). Today, I mix Armour (2 grains/day) with T4 (75 mcg/day). That means that I take 18 mcg of T3 and 151 mcg of T4 each day. This is the best combination of drugs for me, and my current dose works very well (although I may have to cut back slightly when it gets warmer outside). It seems that many people do not get well on T4 drugs or even Armour alone, but they need to find the right mixture of drugs to become truly well. Maybe this is because pigs make more T3 than humans, so we need to counterbalance it with some additional synthetic T4? I recenly ordered 3 bottles of Alvidar, and I can honestly say that it was a huge disappointment. I noticed no difference or improvement whatsoever, so I simply sent the bottles back (one empty and two unopened). I just hope that the money back-guarantee really applies. Otherwise, I will have wasted 150 dollars. I have read other statements on the Internet to that effect, that is, that there are no ingredients in Alvidar known to cure or even alleviate thyroid disease. This is my experience and others may very well have different experiences. On the contrary, I have had excellent results using some of the supplements recommended by Shomon in The thyroid diet. These are the supplements I take dialy: 5-HTP, copper, zinc, calcium, CLA, DHEA, evening primrose oil, taurin, alpha-lipoic acid, chromium, Coenzyme Q-10, L-Arginine, selenium, vitamines B and C and natural hydrocortison (prescribed by my doctor). To me, the supplements have proven much more effective than Alvidar. Have you had your adrenals checked? If they are not doing their job properly, your body may not be able to use thyroid hormones the way it is supposed to. You should also check if you are T3 deficient and needs additional T3.
