Sticking to the diet helps, and taking antifungals and probiotics helps too, as well as an adequate amount of digestive enzymes. Candida weakens the valve/spincter between the esophagus, and the muscles sometimes causing a hiatus hernia (part of the stomach pushes up between the esophagus and the diaphram. >Do I need to eat more fermented foods or take more digestive enzymes or more HCL w/pepsin or what? ==>Cabbage rejuvelac would be good for you. To find out whether you are taking enough Betaine HCL w/pepsin go to our " Digestion " folder for simple tests and instructions about how to increase your digestive enzymes. ==>You want to do whatever it takes to stop the erosion, which can eat away the lining of the esophagus to the point where a blood vessel ruptures. When your stomach gets very upset sip 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of warm water until it subsides. But do not take antacids. ==>If you have a hiatus hernia you can do the massage in " Massage " folder. Also prop up the end of your bed about 5 " with blocks of wood. And be very careful about bending over - always bend your knees, and do not lift heavy objects/boxes, which aggravates the hernia. I have a hiatus hernia so I know what it is like! I've ended up in the hospital many times because of the persistent vomiting. Not sure what to do to stop it & it's driving me nuts. I've been on a liquid diet the past few days because of oral surgery so won't be chewing anything for a while yet. That's another problem right now. > Wondering if the liquid diet is making things worse in the digestive area. I think I'll start pureeing some cooked foods tomorrow. But this started way before I had the oral surgery or teeth problems so can't be related to that, could it? ==>If your liquid diet contains adequate nutrients they wouldn't cause that problem. Pureeing foods is a good idea, and also having plenty of good soups/bone broths, and also my raw egg drink! Do ensure you are getting enough protein and " good " fats. The fats will heal your esophagus and make it stronger. Luv, Bee
