Guest guest
Wow, We are pretty close. I am going to take my daughter to a Dr in Lacey one of these days. Is that close to you? Maybe we can get a Washington State support group going? It would be great to get to meet all the other local people that have had surgery with Dr A. I hope you have a great day! The weather is perfect today, not to hot and not to cold. :0) Gross Hi , this is Mrs. Music. Guest guest
HI and Mrs. Music and all other wa state bandsters I had my surgery with Dr. A on MAy 18th . I was just reading some of the posts and seen the two of you are from Wa state. I get my fills from a Dr. in Lacey. His name is Dr. Neal. He doesnt actually do the fills himself, but it is affiliated with his office. It would be nice to get a group of Dr A patients together from Wa. State. Have a great evening. Guest guest
Peggy, I've been reading your posts. I wish so much that there was something I could do to help relieve your pain. I will pray for you. I felt kind'ove bad asking you so many questions when you needed to be concentrating on yourself with the surgery and recovery. I am glad to see that they aren't being stingy with prescribing the pain medication. I was looking through my Dr.'s notes from my Dec. 2005 pedicle screw fusion of L4-L5 and discovered that they sent me home with a prescription for hydrocodone 7.5/500. No wonder I was in such pain - that amount is like baby aspirin when having surgery with fusion - but that was a simple procedure comparatively speaking.... My upcoming surgery with Dr. Hey will be removing the hardware from that surgery and extending my fusion from the Harrington rod (ends at L1 or L2) on down to the sacrum, and will be posterior only which is a piece of cake, I believe, compared to posterior and anterior fusion. I hope you get through this hurdle quickly and the rest of your recovery will be better. I know we're not supposed to wish away time, but, sometimes time is the only healer. Hoping you get relief, [ ] Gross , Right before surgery I told Dr. Hey that I had met you online. He was a little surprised that we had found each other on the internet but he knew who you were. Take all the gadgets they offer you at the hospital. Everything they show you in the surgery manual - the grabber, the sock thing, the long handled sponge - they give to you. They also order a walker and bedside commode. Take them! You will fell steadier using them than trying to rely on your own strength. Guest guest
If tolerated by you, they will probably send you home with OxyContin, oxycodone for breakthrough pain and Valium for the muscle spasms. If you are not an anti-inflammatory they will also give you Toradol. I don't mind answering questions as I am comfortable in this chair. The hospital was wonderful. All my nurses were very nice. slept in the extra bed in my room so only left for meals and to smoke. Sometimes the nurses were slow to answer the bell so I got myself out of bed, to the bathroom and back in bed. When the nurse saw the light on outside my room she told me to keep ringing until someone comes next time. The nutritionist would ask if he wanted a tray when she brought my meals. And if I didn't like something they would take it back and get something else. The physical therapists were wonderful. If they come in the first day to show you how to use the equipment, ask them to come back later. They showed me when I was so drunk that I forgot how to use some of the stuff they brought. But they will give you all the gadgets in the manual. I am glad I had them order me a walker as I have 4 cats and it causes them to get out of my way and not trip me up like they would normally do. And even though we installed an elevated toilet, there are no arms for it so I asked for the bedside commode, which can go right over your toilet, so I would have the arms to raise and lower myself. Feel free to ask any questions. Peggy Peggy [ ] Gross , Right before surgery I told Dr. Hey that I had met you online.
