(CA) Round 2 - Update 2

Hi...

I spent about an hour with late this afternoon. She's still

pretty drugged up, and had a hard time staying awake. She kept

thinking it was Tuesday and that she'd just gotten out of surgery.

She doesn't remember anything about last night. (Gotta love them

drugs!) She vasilated between saying she was having a lot of pain to

saying she felt fine, so I can't really judge how much pain she's

actually having. The pain guy came in while I was there and they're

upping her oxycontin by 10mg, so I think she'll be fine soon. She's

already eating and drinking, and turning herself in bed.

When I got there, she was very distressed about the PICC line that is

to be implanted. It was really freaking her out, and she sent the

PICC guy away just before I arrived. Since I had a PICC line, and

administered IV antibiotics to myself about 3 years ago, I assured her

that it was not at all a big deal. I hope I helped a little.

was also obscessing about her roomate, who was down in surgery

while I was there. Apparently the roommate has continually complained

about being too loud. Since I was 's first visitor, I'm not

quite sure what the problem is, especially since hasn't even

turned on her TV. Beds are short right now, but hopefully she'll be

moved shortly to a private room on the spine floor. (She's on the

surgical floor because there were no beds on the spine floor when she

got out of surgery on Tuesday.)

I told her that you all sent her your best wishes. I'll check in with

her tomorrow and let you know if there's anything to report.
