Goiter, hashimotos....Thyroid removed at age 16, synthroid .2 My heart started pounding about 10 years later. The doctors tested, tested and tested. NEVER made it to normal thyroid range. Every time that I went to the doctor, they would say, " OOOHHHH, you are depressed " . YES, I was depressed because they could not figure out what to do with me!!!!! BUT, I was really NOT depressed. Each one would try to give me prozac or some other antidepressant and they still try to. I really believe that they are getting 'kickbacks " from the drug companies. I have NEVER been depressed! Just desparate and pissed!!! Just wanted to be well.... Anyway....I tried to get them to give me the Armour. " NO, it is not stable " ....that is what every doctor has told me. I went to some of the best docs. AGE 39....GRAND MAL SEIZURES. Isn't that nice... So, I started flopping around like a fish out of water, chewing my tongue off. MORE TESTS. They couldn't find any reason for the seizures. They gave me tegretol. I told my doc that it was making me looney! She said, " Just take it. " (it didn't stop the seizures) Stopped taking the tegretol...Changed docs. The next one gave me dilantin. What fun! I was down to a size 4 (80 pounds lighter)and just about dead. After 2 years of dilantin and reading on the epilepsy site, I decided that I wasn't like the other epileptics...I stopped taking everything. (By that time, I was taking inderal, synthroid, dilantin, and toting nitroglycerin.)Threw them all in the garbage. WOW, I had hair, again and guess what??? NO MORE SEIZURES! Doctor says that I have cysts....need hysterectomy. Had hysterectomy and started hormones. WOW....no more PMS. It's the best thing that I have ever done!!!!!!! No kids, though...oh well, no dirty diapers or college tuition.... Then....a suture comes thru my skin in the front of my throat. Oh....sometimes they don't dissolve....took 25 years to emerge. Next...thyroid is growing back....great, maybe I should donate a kidney if I can grow extra organs!( If my uterus comes back, I'm joining the circus!) Just recently....too fat....size 16...200lbs...and growing. Thyroid test is too high....need synthroid. Lost 18 lbs the first month. Now...my heart is pounding, again. The two things that I have learned...doctors are PRACTICING medicine. AND.....go by.....how you feel!!!!!!!!!!! (AT LEAST I HAVE KEPT A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR!) AND.....NO, I'm STILL not depressed! She got her health back on Armour and cortisol (for adrenals). Get the book Hormone Solution by Thierry HertogheMD. I can only describe it as all of the sudden I would get ringing in my ears so loud that I coudln't hear around me, then I would start seeing black spots... couldn't breath...then out! My husband at the time witness this and said it looked like I was having a seizure. I did the same.... went to a neuro...found nothing. They kept happening scaring me to death! I finally did research and found Armour... guess what...no more Seizure of fainting spells at all! The heart pounding you described was severe for me while on Synthyroid. Armour...no heart pounding at all. Try changing your meds. You may not like Armour but there are many drugs other than Synthyroid and I think some of us have really bad reactions to Synthyroid. None of the doctos suspected the meds... I tried nearly all of the synthetic thyroid drugs since non of the doctors I went to would prescribe Armour... all of them made me feel sick. I finally just called doctos until I found one that would prescribe Armour and had expierience with it.
