I started to think it is all in my mind because nobody could tell me what is wrong and nobody could give me something that works. I have been on cortosone courses etc. About a month ago somebody told me about candida. I did research on the web and started a very strict candida diet. I also ordered a product " candidate " from the web. In SA the website is orders@... other website in other countries is nativeremedies.com For the first time in the last three years, and especially last year in September when the rashes came out on my body, I HAVE NO ITCHING!!!! I am also drinking daily a very good Vitamin supplement, Biotin as well as Grapefruit seed extract. But please LEAVE THE CANDY that is a very big problem. With no doubt I can tell you sugar is one of the main reasons for the itching. I have tested it many times and found when eating anything with sugar I start itching that same day. Be strong, possitive and keep it up with a proper candida diet. Ronelle I am new to the group Hi my name is Peggy and I have a question... Does anyone in the group have internal itching? For the past four months I have been itching and scratching in moist areas. I have seen five doctors but they do not know what it is. But yet have no problem prescibing me pills. I have taken steroids for one week only, doxepin, but that just helped me sleep at night. I have purchased creams, ointments, lotions, etc. I read on the internet that some women experience itching due to lack of estrogen. So I called my doctor to prescribe me HRT. I wanted to try anything. I did that for 7 weeks and it did not do any good except got rid of my hot flashes. But at this point I would rather have hot flashes than itching! ONe doctor said she was surprised that not one doctor asked me to take a stool culture for yeast, fungus type molds in my body. I called my doctor and took stool specimen to the lab yesterday. I doubt if it comes out positive, because I also read that fungus is hard to find in these tests. Doctors do not have knowledge of this type of problem. Even if the test come out negative I am going to Whole Foods to talk to someone about purchasing garlic, grape seed extract followed up by probiotics. I am new to this although I do evening primrose and flax seed oil on occasion. Right now I didn't want anything in my system. I wanted to be clean so the stool would be ripe. Heaven knows, I have tried everything. I am going to a free workshop on finding out the natural way of healing. So does anyone have internal itching?? The reason I am asking is because the doctors all looked at me and said we see no rash, no hives, the allergy tests all proved negative. Mind you, I work at See's Candies and for the last year I have been eating the candy left and right. Sometimes so much I would see floating white balls infront of my face. One of my eyes almost faded out (this happened twice). I do believe the candy has a lot to do with it. Although I have not eaten the candy in a long time, I am still itching. I tried to do the process of elimnation, but still am baffled. -P
Guest guest
The headache is a sign of yeast die off. The link in the previous email I sent (below) will explain that. There are different Candida diets online available. You can search for them under " candida diets " on google.com Here is a link to a page which explains more and had a link of which foods to avoid, etc: http://altmedicine.about.com/od/popularhealthdiets/a/candidadiet.htm Avoiding Sugar and Yeast is the best way to start. They both feed candida. Also, I am overweight and have lost some weight as well as lost some stomach bloating just by cutting all yeast out of my diet and cutting down severely on sugars. I used to eat so much chocolate but had to stop. ( I also have Reflux Disease and Irritable bowel but this diet has helped SO much! The probiotics are very important as they aid in digestion. If you have to much candida overgrowth it's harder to digest food. Bad digestion = Bloating, belching, passing wind frequently, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, acid reflux (heartburn) and nausea. I'm not a doctor and recommend you see a Naturopath if there is one available to you. Some " regular " doctors aren't very aware of candida or they just " don't believe in it " so you may have to search for a good doctor. Good luck! Guest guest
Hallo Peggy, When I started doing my research on the web I came accross two sites on the eating when suffering from candida. Firstly on www.wholeapproach.comm/diet/foodlists.html I got a three stage self customized diet plan which I started with immediately. You get a list of unlimited (green) foods which you can have, then a Limit foods (orange) list which you can only have limit amounts of and then your food list (Red) to avoid entirely. According to these lists I plan my meals for each day. The second helpfull web is www.geocities.com it is a website of Tipp. She helped me a lot in emails and products to replace and she has very usefull tips as well as recipes for candida. Try this and just be very strict and know it is for you own health Hope to hear from you soon again. Ronelle I am new to the group Hi my name is Peggy and I have a question... Guest guest
Oh yes, I've looked at that one. Can't use it, unfortunately, as it has iodine in it and my husband and I are very sensitive to iodine (especially my husband). We are going to start taking Pharmaton, which has lots of vitamins and minerals. Do you use magnesium at all? I've found that, since we stopped it, we both feel worse, so we are going back on magnesium for a while. Guest guest
>>>The probiotics are very important as they aid in digestion , I am wondering if you know anything about probiotics. I bought some at Whole Foods and it is the refrigerated kind. I have been reading how some probiotics never get to our intestines because they are killed by stomach acid. Have you ever read that? I am concerned that if I did buy probiotics that are not being combined in my system with the other suppliments I am taking i.e. garlic, yeast defense with capryll acid....there may be a possibility that the probiotic are not going to my intestine to help my digestion. My stomach is a little bloated and kinda puffy like. I also purchased colon cleanse, GSE and some Shikai Borage dry skin theraphy. That stuff ain't cheap! It feels good on my skin and I really can't tell yet if it will work, but my skin is so scaley from scratching so much. I believe my problem is candida and menopause combined. I ate so much See's candies I am sure the sugar was very much welcomed in my body and the yeasts are having a hay day down there. I kept them really well stocked. Nonetheless, I can imagine my stomach lining, my colon, my intestines are really a mess and I want to clean them. For my colon cleanse, I bought some psyllium husks caps and bentonite detox. Those two combined will clean out my colon. I also will take 300 mg capryll acid in my yeast defense and I bought (refrig) acidophilus pills too. I read about this combo on a website and I trust it will do the job. I also talked to Whole Foods rep and looked on the computer and read an informational book on how to do a colon cleanse. My husband ask me today if I can take to many pills and if all these pills can be taken in one day or it just seems like theres a lot to take. I have never taken so many pills in one day. I would like to know if there are some guidelines to follow or is this just the way alternative medicine is taken. I guess I just should expect to take a lot of pills. Atleast they are natural. I would rather takes these than all the prescription drugs the other doctors gave me. That is all they know how to do! -P On Sat, 22 Apr 2006 18:15:46 -0500 " Alison " <Callesto71@...> writes: The headache is a sign of yeast die off. Guest guest
I’m still learning about pro-biotics myself. I have tried the ones in capsule form as well as the “pearls”. The pearls have a hard coating and are supposed to go through stomach acid and make it to your intestines safely. Unfortunately I ran out of the good quality pearls and couldn’t afford to buy the good stuff for a week. I had to buy some at my regular grocery store and I could tell the difference. If I do not take them right before a meal my stomach doesn’t digest food well and I get Irritable Bowel symptoms. I have heard the refrigerated kind is the best to take. When I first started taking them I used them in capsule form (a high quality form) and it didn’t seem to work as well as the “pearls”. I have had “Irritable Bowel Syndrome” since 1993, however, I think I was mis-diagnosed. I think I have had Candida and/ or Celiac disease the whole time. Since I also had constant hypervenalation, dizziness, fatigue and constant diarrhea the doctor assumed I was suffering from Anxiety and gave me Xanax. Siince the diarrhea never went away they gave me Bentyl to “stop me up”. I was on those for YEARS. So many medications and different doctors later I am now bloated, fatigued, depressed, anxious and an insomniac. I think it got the worse in 1999 because my stomach started to bloat so fast I got stretch marks. I was also craving high carb foods and sugar. My constant loose stools went away over time but when I had an operation on my shoulder in Sept. 2004 it came back. The only relief I have gotten is from taking probiotics. I believe I also have vitamin malabsorbtion because I had cracks on the sides on my mouth that would become inflamed. When I looked up the reasons for this it was Riboflavin deficiency. Riboflavin is added to bread products and the deficiency is usually only found in 3rd world countries! I had these cracks for years on and off but when I stopped eating bread they came back even worse. I found that taking Sovereign Silver (Collodial Silver) was the only medicine that made it go away. I was taking vitamins as well but apparently they weren’t being absorbed. Unfortunately since I have been having problems with my gut for years it will probably take awhile to fix it. Since I have stopped eating all yeast products and taking probiotics I have noticed my vitamins are actually being absorbed better. I tried that Shikai Borage skin crème but wasn’t impressed with it. I think if I am a celiac then anything with wheat germ (Vit E) in it will make my condition worse. I’m still trying to find a cream with no Vit. E in it. I usually take my herbal remedies just as it states on the bottles. Some are to be taken with food and some not. “For my colon cleanse, I bought some psyllium husks caps and bentonite detox. Those two combined will clean out my colon. I also will take 300 mg capryll acid” I’ve never tried those but please share your experience when you do! I’ll have to look those up. I notice if I take too much Grapefruit Seed Extract my stools become acidy. However, they are also very smelly so I’m thinking they are getting rid of the waste in my intestines. It’s got to be working because I swear I poop more than I eat! (hahaha) I’ve also notice I am not as bloated and have dropped a pant size. I have to say the worst is when I get my menstrual cycle and I am craving sugar/chocolate like crazy! I think I have to go see a Naturopath. The problem is I have bad insomnia and it is very hard for me to get up earlier than usual to see a doctor. (I work from 3pm to 12am) I have noticed my sleep cycle has very slowly getting better since I changed my diet and taking herbal remedies. Good luck! Guest guest
I used to get bad coffee and chocolate cravings during my periods. But it has ended since I went on the anti-candida diet. Actually, all my food cravings have ended (not so for my husband, though, he is craving really badly). I've had terrible problems with PMS, which are also starting to clear up (not entirely though, unfortunately). Guest guest
Hi Kate, Sorry you are having problems again. This is a great group.... and we have discussions that are almost always very pleasant weighing pros and cons of different types of procedures and our success. One procedure we all almost unanimously agree on is that botox should be avoided. Seems like our doctors even agree on that if they are experienced with achalasia. Most people w/ trouble after surgery get a dialation of some kind, not botox. It seems a general agreement that botox can cause scarring, making further treatment more difficult. Botox seems to be only recommended for high risk surgical patients. Search our data base or mention where you live and we can help you with doctors. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?CMD=search & DB=pubmed The link above is my favorite website for medical articles. It is a summary of articles from it seems like every medical publication in the world. Put in achalasia, and read all you want. Be careful of the dates of the articles, as botox WAS recommended just a few years ago, things change. Then keep searching by medical centers close to you. For the most part you probably need to go to the head of the department of the esophageal center, or gi center of large medical centers. Don't waste your time anywhere else, bluntly. Achalasia is so rare you need to find the heads of departments where the rare case float to the heads of the departments. There are always differences, but really I haven't heard of botox after a myotomy doing any good, but many people have luck with dialations or a redo of the myotomy. There is always an exception. Sorry the diagnosis took so long. That is a common thread among many here. Some for 20+ years. Welcome and tell us a little more about yourself. Many friends are made here, maybe you live close to one of us. Sandy in So California>> Hello my name is Kate. I was diagnosed with vigorous achalasia about > one and a half years ago. Guest guest
Dear Kate, Welcome to the Group. This is THE place to get some good information. I agree with what Sandy wrote about botox and dilatation. Did you have a wrap with your myotomy? If so, it is likely that the wrap is too tight. It is a fine balance to get it just right - too loose and acid can swill up into the oesophagus, too tight and food still cannot get down. This is usually loosened with a dilatation. It is no surprise that your general health is suffering. If food cannot get down, or goes down ridiculously slowly, by the time it reaches the stomach and is sent on to be digested into the blood stream, the nutritional value is severely depleted. You need B vitamins for instance, for healthy hair. Once your problem is fixed, you should go back to being stronger, having more energy, feeling more alert and having that lovely hair you desire. Guest guest
Kate, Welcome to the family. There are great discussions here along with awesome information. Most of us agree that botox isn’t a good choice for most people with achalasia. I’ve had two surgeries and have had dilations after ward and those seem to help the most. Keep reading posts and asking questions. There are a lot of veterans here that have a lot of information to give. How long after surgery did you start noticing problems? My son had surgery in Dec and has continued to have problems since he left the hospital as well.We are now going to another surgeon for fear something was not done right we were told.If I can offer advice` I would say seek another opInion as to what is going on!Not saying that something is wrong for you but it doesnt sound 100% normal to me.You dont want to delay as it can cause further damage. I am still fairly new with all this but I am starting to learn alot from everyone here.yOU MENTIONED VOMITING EVERYDAY for 2 years??I dont believe that would be normal even with A after a surgery. Is that true to any one out there reading this?? I dont think I have heard of anyone here vomiting daily, but maybe I am wrong on that one.I would most definitly seek more advice on your condition.Where are you located and where did you have surgery at? Guest guest
Hi Kate, Welcome to the group. Your story sounds true to a lot of members here. Different diagnosis', different treatments, not knowing what to do... etc. It seems everyone's " A " is a bit different than others. A lot of us here have found great GI doctors and great surgeons. Let us know what area you live and there is most likely a doctor not too far. I'm from Michigan and I travel to Ohio for my treatment and it is well worth the travel for such a rare disorder as we have. I'm 24 yrs old and was diagnosed 1.5 years ago. I had one dilation that worked for 1 yr and just 5 weeks ago had the Heller myotomy with Dor Fundo. So far so good. Please post and tell us more about yourself and your " A " . You will come to find a great deal of knowlege from all of us, anywhere from symptom relief to what the most recent research on " A " is. Welcome! in Michigan > > Hello my name is Kate. Guest guest
, It is a serious surgery but it's also the best thing once you've recovered if your knee has hurt as bad as mine did before surgery. I'm 9 months out now and the new knee is just wonderful. I can walk without pain, move normally, etc. You didn't say what led you to need the TKR. I had been in pain for five years before I had it done (I'm 44 and was 43 when the surgery was done.) You are young so that probably means you will bounce back even sooner. Just make sure to do your physcial therapy and follow all instructions and you will find it getting better each day after surgery. The first few days in the hospital are the bad part and it gets better after that. Early on you will notice that your knee is sore in the muscles but how wonderful it feels not to "feel" the crunching and scraping as you use your knee. -----Original Message-----From: Joint Replacement [mailto:Joint Replacement ]On Behalf Of druSent: Monday, October 15, 2007 7:36 PMJoint Replacement Subject: I am new to the group Hello, My name is and I am 25 and I am looking at a total knee replacement within the next 3 months. Guest guest
--- Thank you for the positive feed back. I am nervous about the age thing because I am really young and I might have to have 2 or 3 TKR'S if this one goes out. My doctor says that the age thing does not matter at this point because it is now about my quality of life. My quality of life pretty much sucks right now I bet you know what I am talking about. I hurt my L. knee years ago playing baseball. I hate baseball that is the part that makes me very mad. The other part I hate is that I hurt it showing off after I hit a home run. My knee is starting to become deformed from the arthritis, it is starting to bend backwards. That is cool that you are having great results with yours. Any other info ya got I would appreciate it thanks!!! Guest guest
I have a spinal stimulator implant for peripheral neuropathy. I don't know if they work for diabetic neuropathy (don't know why they wouldn't), but you might want to ask your doctor. For me, it was a life saver.Take Care, "a.rose50" <a.rose50@...> wrote: I have diabetes neuropathy and at night the pain is so bad at times I feel like I am going crazy. I lyrica 3 times a day. Guest guest
Hello All, I am dealing with allergies/sensitivity to fragrance/chemicals. I cant find a doctor in Michigan that takes insurance , that will help with my problem. I need testing done to see if I have parasites, or any other underlying problem that can be causing my sensitivity. I was curious if anyone on here had problems with chemical sensitivity and if so what caused it if you know and what has helped? Thanks
Guest guest
Hello Welcome to the group. I had food and chemical sensitivities. I found I had parasites, yeast fermentation, bacterial overgrowth, leaky gut and liver detox pathways that were not functioning 100%. I cured the problems by getting rid of parasites and bacterial overgrowth, controlling yeast and healing my leaky gut. Once I did this my liver detox improved. I did a lot of detox to get rid of heavy metals and chemicals as well. Have you checked with the labs like Metametrix and Genova Diagnostics to see if they have a doctor in your area who takes insurance and is familiar with the tests you need to get done to rule out all these things? Sometimes you can do these tests through a doctor who does telephone consultations although it is better if they can see you face to face at least once. I hope you will be able to find someone who can help you.
