Guest guest
I was wondering if any of you have pain from the bone harvesting from your original harrington rod procedures. 21 years out I still have so much pain from the bone graph site in my lower left hip in the back. My curve was low enough in my back that Dr. Dawson was able to take bone out of my backside instead of the front of my hip. Dr. LaGrone said that there is nothing he can do for this pain. Is anyone suffering from this? Does anyone have suggestions on how to ease this pain? Dr. LaGrone also said that he would use cadaver bone for the revision surgery. Is there any concern about contracting disease? Does anyone know how this cadaver bone is cleaned/prepared before it's inserted into our backs? Guest guest
Are there any sites that talk about this pain in adults. I'm on the brink of tears today it's hurting so much. I'm also feeling emotional as I read everyone's stories, examine the pictures and think about my future with surgery scheduled for 6/26. I don't think I realized just how big and profound this is. There is real truth behind the statement " ingornace is bliss " . Could I ask you to pray for me, I'm a mess today. My kids are in Mississippi on a mission trip with church rebuilding homes for Katrina victims and my husband is at work. I'm alone today with my thoughts which I would normally embrace because I don't get much alone time (I homeschool my daughter), but today the house is just too quiet. - Your Sister in Scoliosis...... Guest guest
Wow, that's new to me. Is it possible that you're confusing S-I joint pain with iliac crest pain? Did anyone else who had no iliac crest donor site pain in the first year or so after surgery develop pain later on? -- > > Hi All, > > I have had increasing pain over the years from the bone graft site. Guest guest
---ALpine, I am almost 7 weeks post op from revision surgery. It was and still is tought, but you can do it!! Each day gets better. If you are in horrible pain you may find the good relief from revision...not to say there is no pain but healing takes sometime...I know how scary it is...I cried up until the point they carted me off to the OR.....but you can do it!!! We are all here for you...we know what you are feeling. , PA In , " thegouldianlady2004 " <alpine@...> wrote: > > Are there any sites that talk about this pain in adults. Guest guest
Thank you ladies for your prayers today. I sat down and began to journal. I'm still feeling blue but I am comforted by your concern and encouragement. I was hoping that this decision to have surgery wouldn't define who I am over these next few months. Something I'll have to work through. Spoke to my mother today, she and I don't see eye to eye on this decision. She's concerned about so much hardware in the body and just surgery in general, so there's not much support there. It is a blessing to come to this board and know that I am understood. Kathy, please get good rest tonight. Your working too hard! , I'm encouraged to hear that someone else cries to the OR. Thank you for telling me you all understand what I'm feeling. I'm scared! Bonnie - this is just SO BIG! How did you deal with it? I have a couple of questions - What is SI Joint pain? When I look at the pictures of ya'lls x-rays I need to learn what everything is and what I'm seeing. I understand the cages, but I don't know what I'm seeing in the side views (is the side view called sagittal?) those long spikes that are going into the back. What are those and what do they do? Thank you sweet ladies! Guest guest
Dear Alpine, You are the brave one...facing all that you have and still moving ahead with surgery. I think it is great that you are journaling to help get through this experience. I think I have journaled " out loud " to this group for the most part. It has been a very healing experience for me to write it all out. I was curious about your saying that you hope that the decision to have surgery didn't define who you are over the coming months...what do you mean? Are you feeling like this scoliosis is taking over your life and wanting to resist that or do you mean in the more general way that preparing for this surgery is a full time job? I saw you had IM's me while I was away about some of the technicality...sorry I wasn't there...but you can send any questions to me by email and I will see if I can answer them. Take Care, Cam
Guest guest
Bonnie - you sound like me! Busy, busy, busy. It must be the fact that this is spring break and no one has been around. I've been in a real funk and thinking what have I gotten myself into. I'm tired of being alone with my thoughts. Thank you for the encouragement. I feel everyone's prayers today. I'm calmer and the kids have gotten home. ) Hugs, Alpine > > > > > > > > I was wondering if any of you have pain from the bone > > harvesting from > > > > your original harrington rod procedures. 21 years out I > still > > have so > > > > much pain from the bone graph site in my lower left hip in > the > > back. > > > > My curve was low enough in my back that Dr. Dawson was > able to > > take > > > > bone out of my backside instead of the front of my hip. > Dr. > > LaGrone > > > > said that there is nothing he can do for this pain.
