My grocery store has smaller carts, mostly for kids, so they can act like

grown ups. I use these and it seems to accommodate most of my groceries.

Maybe they could order you one of those!

I have noticed the same cart in the liquor stores in VA...sorry, but I do go

there. They are a much better size for Little People. I am average height, but

my daughter is a diastrophic dwarf...who also goes to the same such stores

(sorry Martha). These shopping carts are a great size. I went to a specialTY

market in VA Beach a few weeks ago, and they had a similarly sized cart. It was

called, The Fresh Market. Does anyone know if this is a chain??? They had

several options of carts. I was very impressed.

I often think about the 'cart' in the liquor stores or some of the 'warehouse

clubs' I've been to where the cart is shallow and alittle longer. Now wouldn't

that make grocery shopping a happier event!!!?!?!?!

Grocery shopping

I know awhile back it was mentioned how some of us go grocery shopping with

not being able to reach in the bottom basket of the shopping carts.

I'm looking into asking one of the manager's of the grocery stores that I

shop at to order me a shopping cart that's basket bottom is accessible to me.

The manager said he would and understood about me not reaching into the

bottom of the cart and noting that the store provides amigo shopping carts

for those who can't walk, but shop.

Sula I find all prices high right now. It seems they raise prices on everything. I know GAS GAS GAS... Tomatoes 3.09 lb. I am going today alone so I will have time to browse.

Sula, you found a great sale! As far as " diet food " goes, I try to

keep very little completely off limits--and those are my 'trigger'

foods (the ones that will send me on a 2-day binge once I start eating

them). I think if we limit ourselves too much, we'll burn out. Funny

thing, though, in just eating healthier for the last 7-8 months, now I

really am drawn to the healthier foods. *shrugs* It's a nice change

of pace from feeling like I wanted the junk food all the time but

couldn't have it :)

Is NutriSystem similar to Craig? Because of the price of JC

food, I opted to pick out my own menus so I could get mostly the

cheaper meals and I burned out REALLY fast. Two weeks in, while at

the supermarket, I realized that the WW/Healthy Choice/Lean Cuisine

meals were 1/3-1/4 the price of JC and what a selection! That's when

I figured I could just do it on my own.

I agree 100% with what you said about the low fat versions

contributing to health problems. That high-fructose corn syrup is

some nasty stuff and they add it to a lot of lower fat versions of

foods. I am *very* careful with what my boys eat--absolutely no trans

fats and I try very hard to not give them anything with high fructose

corn syrup. Then, this last year in preschool, my oldest discovered

Twix bars, fruit snacks, etc, because that's what the other moms send

in for snacks. UGH!!!

Your dinner sounds yummy! Is the Omega-3 spread any good? Does it

have any trans fat like margarine?

Anyway, you're off to a great start, Sula!

The label reads:

Smart Balance Light - Now with Flax Oil to achieve an ideal 4 to 1 ratio of

Omega-6 to

Omega-3!

300mg Omega-3

37% natural vegetable oils.

1 TB has 45 calories, ALL of it from fat. 1.5g saturated 1.5 polyunsaturated, 2g

monounsaturated. 90mg of sodium.

Ingredients: Water, natural oil blend (palm fruit, soybean, canola, flax seed

and olive oils),

contains less than 2% of salt, vegetable monoglycerides and sorbitan ester of

fatty acids

(emulsifiers), natural and artificial flavor, soybean lecithin, potassium

sorbate, calcium

disodium EDTA, TBHA and lactic acid (to protect freshness, Vitamin E acetate,

Vitamin A

palmitate and beta-carotene color.

The funny? " Store in refrigerator up to 1 year "

It's lactose free and has 0 trans-fat.

And it's yummy.

They don't recommend using this particular blend for baking.
