Guest guest
Sylvia, I was on it, but I stopped taking Ultram after hearing lots of horror stories. One of the effects of stopping it is restless legs syndrome. That's why I was asking if the person with the restless legs was taking it. Guest guest
Jenna, When I first went to my idiot RD after my fall he gave me a 16 day sample supply of Ultram with a manufacturer's printed schedule. He never told me that I needed to wean off of them nor did he give me a prescription to continue them either. On the 17th, 18th & 19th days I was climbing the walls. I not only had restless leg syndrome, I had total restless body syndrome. I could not sleep for 3 whole days and my entire body felt needle & pins. I felt as though I was jumping out of my skin. The worst! Sorry I tend to forget, Who is the person that has restless leg syndrome? And what do they take for it? If I don't get an answer soon, I may smother my husband because his is getting worse and worse. It is difficult enough trying to fall asleep when your own body won't let you and then as soon as you are almost there, the bed starts shaking, the pounding begins and then your heart hits the mattress every 20 to 30 seconds. I've timed it, believe me. Sylvia PS - I have a massive migraine but...Stay tuned tomorrow. I will compose an update about my new Dr's visit today. --- In egroups, JennaKay Francis <triskelion@j...> wrote: > Sylvia, > > I was on it, but I stopped taking Ultram after hearing lots of horror > stories. Guest guest
Have you ever tried feverfew for your migraines, Sylvia? Hope you are OK. Migraines are horrible. I've had them since I was a child. Feverfew has only failed me once in about four years now. Get off the computer and go lie down. Tell the hubby to behave. I look forward to hearing about your appointment. I really hope it went well. ----- Original Message ----- From: <booper51@...> < egroups> Sent: Wednesday, September 13, 2000 9:20 PM Subject: [ ] Re: DR Visit > Jenna, > When I first went to my idiot RD after my fall he gave me a 16 day > sample supply of Ultram with a manufacturer's printed schedule. Guest guest
Sylvia, I also get migraines and have tried every remedy there is, at least it seems like it. I do have a med that i take, it comes in nasal spray, pill form and self injection. i perfer the injection, works faster for me and with all the kids and stuff i need fast relief. my headaches tend to last for days at a time. any way its called Imitrex. Not sure if its something you can use with all your meds though. It may be worth a try if you can. oh yeah when i say it works fast, i mean it works really fast. headache is gone in about 20 mins and then i take a nap for about 2 hours and iam go to go until the next one. I have also tried the feverfew and it seemed to help prevent the migraine for me but not always. you know those migraines, when they decide to come there is no stopping them but the feverfew is a good way to go if you can't use other meds. also gets mirgraines but we are able to control his with tylenol most of the time. I worry about him and the rest of you other migraine suffers that have RA because migraines are known to cause seizures and ya'll don't need anymore things to deal with. Hope you feel better soon. shelly
Guest guest
Well I went and saw a PS today about having these things removed. He said although he respects me wanting them out,if there is no MAJOR complications, he'd suggest leaving them in. And the nurse was nice enough to compare implants to getting a tooth filled at the dentist. My husband says now that he'd just leave them alone if it was him. However he said it was completely up to me. Why should i wait to see if something very bad will happen. My husband does love me and i believe he will stand by me no matter what. I want them out! How could I have been so stupid getting these dumb things? Maybe these rashes and the swelling is from something else. But I find it too much of a coincidence that others have the same and they have just had more complications with time!I'm so glad I found this group. My stuff is minor compared to you guys, but you are truely an eye opener and a wonderful source of info!
Guest guest
Hey there friend, hang in there. What a terrible thing for the PS to say. Where do you live? I have been forewarned that my PS may take this approach and if he does the Women's Implant Centre here will provide me with a doctor/s that will not question me on having the implants removed. I hope you have the same situation where you live. Guest guest
Hi Cristy, Your doctor gave the old standby lines about leaving them in if nothing is wrong. How many women have been led astray with these " comforting " words, only to suffer long term health consequences down the road?? It is the same old story with women like us yelling " The bridge is out ahead!!! " , while those that know it all say " All is well, all is well, nothing to worry about " , only to find out too late that they should have heeded the words of warning. You are a smart woman to take care of your health NOW, while you are beginning to see the early warning signs. Let your husband see the letters we have posted from other women who have been ill and see how they are suffering. Let him see a few of the studies. Ask him if he is willing to pay the costs of letting you go through more serious medical consequences. I should think his mind would be changed quickly, rather than listening to the current platitudes spouted by the doctors. If you haven't gone through the archives yet, I highly recommend that you take a look at some of the studies posted, mainly in July. I also recommend that he read the compilation of letters I did of some of the letters I have received during one year, which I will post again for you now for his benefit. These letters are just a representation of what is happening all over America with the " safe " saline implant. God bless you. Patty What I wanted you to read is a compilation of some of the letters I have received over the past year (and remember I have been involved in this for almost 3 years now!) from saline implant victims. There are many more than these. But this will give you some idea of what difficulties women are facing when they get saline implants. I've left out last names and e-mail addresses out of respect for the privacy of these women. *********************** > >Date: Saturday, October 02, 1999 10:34 AM > >Subject: Please welcome ~ questions on saline implant removal > Hi, > >>My name is . I had my saline implants of 7 years removed a little under 2 weeks ago. The p/s did implant removal and he says intact removal of the capsule. But my left breast is hard and bigger than the right. He said the left was more difficult to get out, to explain the significant difference is swelling I experienced right to left. What could be happening here? My follow up with him is Tuesday, but I just don't trust doctors and am hoping you might have heard or know something about this. Please write soon. Also can I ask if you know women who have had removal with symptoms, did they improve right away in some cases, is there an average? I have arthritic like pain in my joints, stabbing or crushing chest pain from time to time, hair loss, dizziness, memory fog, sores in my mouth, fuzzy vision, and sleep problems. My symptoms started with my face blowing up like a bullfrog, which lasted 3 weeks several years ago, I didn't even think it could be due to the breast augmentation I had only 5 months before it happened and neither did my clueless doctor, so I left them in another 6 1/2 years. I really didn't have any more symptoms until after giving birth the 3rd time when I developed the arthritis and chest pain. I went to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack. They found nothing. They checked me for arthritis at my request but said my test came back normal. I was pregnant within 3 months again and all my symptoms disappeared. After the birth of my next daughter, I was sicker! Bad arthritis, much hair loss, more than typical from having a baby. I was pregnant within 3 months of that and lost all symptoms again. My last daughters birth has brought me to my knees. I am sick, my arthritis became unbearable, I couldn't even pull up my sheets at night unless I used my wrists to do so. The hair loss.... Anyway, after explantation I washed my hair and expected the usual brush and garbage can full of hair and I kid you not, I hardly lost any, I truly believe this was God encouraging me on my decision to take those things out of my body. I would also get terrible night sweats with shivers that would have my teeth rattling and body aching. I'm tired of feeling like I have the flu all the time. I am tired of being exhausted and only able to sleep short periods at a time. What did you do for detox. I already eat as much organic as I can, drink lots of water, take vitamins, and avoid chemicals at all costs (I get so sick in places like wal-mart or whole foods when I am bombarded with too many smells). I have non-toxic cleaning products, don't use much make up, but I am sure there is more I should be doing. I AM GOING NEXT MONTH TO A SURGEON ABOUT EXPLANT. CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPLANT? I AM AFRAID TO EVEN HAVE ANY MORE SURGERY. HOW DID YOURS GO? HOW WAS YOUR RECOVERY? HOW LONG WAS THE SURGERY? I HAVE HAD MINE IN FOR 15 MONTHS AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS STARTED TO HAVE SOME SYMPTOMS BUT AT THE TIME DID NOT THINK IT WAS FROM THE IMPLANTS. FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS I AM HAVING MAJOR HAIR LOSS. I HAVE LOST ABOUT HALF OF MY HAIR. I CAN JUST TOUCH MY HAIR AND IT WILL JUST FALL OUT. THIS SYMPTOM IS CONTINUOUS AND NEVER STOPS. I WILL BE BALD WITHIN A FEW MONTHS IF IT DOES NOT STOP. THE OTHER SYMPTOMS COME AND GO LIKE NUMBESS AND TINGLING IN THE HANDS AND FEET, STIFF NECK, SORE THROAT, MEMORY LOSS, ECT. DID YOU HAVE HAIR LOSS? IF YOU DID, DID IT FINALLY STOP AFTER EXPLANT? I LOSE ABOUT 200 TO 300 HAIRS A DAY. I HAVE BEEN TO DOCTORS AND HAVE HAD BLOOD WORK WHICH ALL HAVE BEEN NORMAL. I JUST DIAGNOSED MYSELF THAT IT IS FROM THE IMPLANTS. THIS IS REALLY STRESSING ME OUT. I HAVE FINE THIN HAIR ANYWAYS AND AM NOT READY TO BE BALD! HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOUR EXPALNT? HOW SOON DID YOU START TO FEEL BETTER? ************************ <faussettdp@...> Sent: Saturday, May 27, 2000 2:21 PM Subject: Hi Patty, your story really touched me > Dear Patty, > I just had to write you and tell you how your story about saline > implants could very well have saved my life. I have survived on plaquinel and off-and-on doses of steroids since then until one week ago when i landed in the hospital with symptoms of a stroke. I could barely talk, the right side of my body was numb and my leggs felt like i was walking in cement. for the years in between my original flare up of symptoms (starting with paralisys of my right side) and now, i have had constant recurring attacks of rheumatological looking symptoms and numbness, tingling and heaviness in my limbs. My Rheumatologists have insisted that this is not related to my saline implants and have in fact advised me not to have them removed because " it won't help and the psychological damage will make things worse " . I am despirate!!! i am a single mother with 2 children i am trying to raise and right now i can hardly take care of myself. The drs. at the hospital are trying to make me believe that i am mental and all of my symptoms are being caused by some psychological problem. I know what i am going through is real and i am not crazy!!! I decided on an intuitive hunch to check the internet for information on breast implants and medical problems and i found the coss site. the information printed by Dr. Ostermeyer proved invaluable in convincing me that i was not crazy and that there was hope. I am now looking for a Dr. who will support me in silicon recovery and implant removal. I am in Ornage county, Ca. . Please, please, if you have any information that can help me don't hesitate to e-mail it to me. sincerely, Lorri ***************************** Sent: Wednesday, August 09, 2000 12:01 PM I was 21, self-conscious of my body and extremely flat chested. I decided to get saline implants with my college summer earnings. I spoke to 2 plastic surgeons who told me " [i was] an excellent candidate for breast augmentation. " After deciding on a surgeon based on his ranking in Washingtonian Magazine's list of Best Plastic Surgeons, I had the surgery. I was very happy with the result, until 2 months later. I began noticing that my right breast had begun to harden. The condition worsened and became painful. My breast was literally rock hard. After consulting with my surgeon, I decided to have surgery again to fix the problem known as capsular contracture. My surgeon waived his fee, but I was still responsible for the hospital and anesthesia fees. Again the results were great. This time I had no problen with hardening of my breast. 10 months later, I woke up to find one of my breasts " missing. " The same right breast had deflated. It wasn't until later that I realized my surgeon had removed the original implant, deflated it, reinserted and filled it after fixing the capsular contracture problem. It was this same implant that was now deflated. I once again consulted with my surgeon and planned to have the implant replaced. Again he would waive his fee, but I would again be responsible for the hospital and anesthesia fees. He did offer me some consolation, that Mentor (the implant manufacturer) would cover the costs this time. Again I had surgery, hoping for the best. I vowed that if anything went wrong this time, I would have them removed for good. After the surgey, I must deal with Mentor for my reimbursement. I was issued a contract stating that I would be given a check for $1200 to " cover the surgery expenses " as long as I signed a form stating I would never again have a claim against Mentor Corp. I refused to sign, based solely on the fact that the hospital and anesthesia fees were more than $3000. To this point I have spent more than $13000 for breast implants that I am still unhappy with. After my final surgery, I had a large " dent " in my same right breast. It now shows through all of my clothes except baggy t-shirts. Now I won't wear a bathing suit in public, and I am an attractive, athletic 5'9 " 130 lb woman. The worst part is, that I now cannot afford to have them removed. The thought of now going another $3000+ in debt is painful. I was warned that there were sometimes complications with saline breast augmentation (capsular contracture, deflation, and deformity,) but I was never warned that it was likely I would experience all of them. And I did all this to improve my self-esteem. What a mistake. ********************** From: Priscilla Monday September 18, 2000 Hello, > I am writing to you because I am on a search to find out all I can about > the dangers of implants. Guest guest
I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A PRECISE DIAGNOSIS, DESPITE NO GENE THERAPY IS AVAILABLE YET. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO CAN DECIDE BETTER ABOUT PROCREATION, IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PROGNOSIS AND FOR REHABILITATION BECAUSE SOME MUTATIONS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH WORSE PROGRESSION.
