Guest guest
Hope things go well at Mayo. Keep us posted as to what the Doctor says. Thanks for the birthday wishes for Mark. He will be 15 tomorrow. Sometimes I think if he had blood work when he was younger, we could have discovered this disease so much earlier. Can't turn back the clocks. It will be 2 weeks on Thursday since he had his liver biopsy. No report yet, but Hershey Medical Center said the biopsy reports are running later than usual. I'm hoping we don't get a call on his birthday. I would like to forget about it on his special day. Thanks for sharing your information with me. Guest guest
Aumesh, on 9/7 his ast's were 25 and alt's were 31 so they told him to decrease his pred from 25mg to 20mgs. Then more labs done on 9/28. At that time his lft's had gone up to 266 and 441 so they increased his pred to 30mgs. Well when they did labs Tues. alt's were 780 and ast's 1296 so they now have him taking 60mg of pred. He has never been on a higher dosage than 40 before and that was just for a week. He is like Raj as for how often he has labs done. It has been anywhere from once a month to once a week, just depending on if they are changing dosages or not. He was diagoned in Feb. and was able to do fine on 20mgs and was down to 10mg and then ne had a flare up in May. that is when they did the 40mg for a week. This time it seems that when he got below 25 or 30 mgs that he had a flare up. I don;t understand why he was fine on a lower dosage last time and not this time. Is the pred not working or what? As for the testing on the autoantibodies, i have no clue if that was done or not. I will have to find out. I f Hunt had tested positive for the autoantibodies would they be treating him differently? Is that what the PCB is? I am not knowlegeable at that area at all. take care, Rosemary
Guest guest
I would think the reason the doctor didn't think a bone density test was needed at this time is because of Raj's young age. Jodi is 27 and they just did hers about three months ago. There is no side effects from the test, it's a very simple one. He is taking calcium + D isn't he? If not I would certainly ask the doctor if he shouldn't be. Take care and tell Raj I hope you guys have a better year. Guest guest
That sounds correct, to lower the Imuran to 50mg. Then after enough time the doctor will begin to slowly lower the Pred. I took 10 for 1 year, then 7.5, then 5mg a day, but now I like taking 10 mg. every-other day. ( And I weigh a lot more) AIH for almost 4 years, age 59. Guest guest
hi aumesh, i have been wondering how raj is doing with school and all. do i remember you saying that he was living in the dorm. hunt is doing pretty good. he is down to 7.5mgs of pred and 150 of imuran. after several relapses in the past after trying to lower the meds, so far this seems to be working this time. this is the lowest dosage that he has made it down to since he was diagnosed 1/00. he has an extremely hard time focusing in lecture classes. he is fine in labs but the sitting there and listening and having to concentrate that hard for that period of time seems to really be too much. the DR seem to feel that if we can get him off completely and stays off awhile then maybe his focusing will get better. at this point he can not watch a whole movie, for that matter a ballgame either. other than that and occasionally his face getting puffy he has no other side effects EXCEPT the mood swings. that is quite difficult especially with his girlfriend. i do hope raj is doing well. rosemary
