Guest guest
Hi everyone; I got back from the GI today. Not very good news. I need your input on some questions. Has any one seen their liver not respond to prednisone over time? Meaning, where 20mg of prednisone use to knock your AST/ALT numbers down to normal, now that amount of prednisone doesn't work as well? Has any one had a Pro-Predict Metabolite (thiopurine therapy) Level Monitoring Test done? It's a blood test where they see if the imuran is at a therapeutic level? Has any one had their A1C numbers come down (without diabetic treatment) from a reduction of the prednisone? I know these are tough questions, but I'm in a pickle. My A1C came back today at 11.3 (non diabetic is a value less than 6.5). We can't raise the prednisone to help the liver numbers because it's the prednisone that's causing the A1C numbers to go up (pretty quickly). So, we are lowering the prednisone to 15mg to see if it will help the glucose. But, that will probably mean my liver numbers will go up. In one month, I have seen (under 15mg) my numbers go from normal to over 100 each. I'm in a catch-22. Thanks for any one and everyone in helping me understand!
