Guest guest
I guess your dr. is greedy. My doctor will call me with the results and explain them to me, no office visit needed, no charge. I would imagine if your dr. was concerned about the FT4 range the office would have called you and either asked you to come in or told you what you needed to do. If I were you, I would look up the results on the web to put your mind at ease (with keeping in mind that every lab uses different ranges). You should be able to search on 'blood test results T4' or something similar and see what it says. I also believe that you should be able to call the dr. office and ask that they explain the results over the phone to you for no charge, even if the PA does it. They should not just send the results to you with no explaination of what they mean. That doesn't make any sense to me. To me - that says, it is time to find a new doctor and fast. Guest guest
Hi, I too suffered for years before being diagnosed. When I was borderline my GP too wouldn't treat me until my symptoms got so bad i couldn't walk. The doctors then discovered I had Hashi's and told me that if they'd done the antibody test when I was borderline they would have started treating me earlier. So my advice, if you haven't already had an antibody test, is to ask for one - that will tell you if you have autoimmune type of hypothyroid and you are more likely to get treatment with 'borderline' numbers. As a result of my positive antibody test, my sister had one, which was positive for hashi's, and so she was monitored and as soon as her numbers went 'bordeline' and she was feeling ill she got meds.
