Re: movie popcorn -- safe? -- response from Landmark Theaters

Hello Ms. Linden,

All Landmark Theatres prepare Orville Redenbacher popcorn fresh daily and its

only ingredient is, " Popping Corn. "

In the greater San Francisco metropolitan region, our theatres use Odell's

Classic Blend Oil in the popping process. Odell's reports, " All of our products

are gluten free. "

Our theatres in Northern CA use Odell's Anhydrous Butterfat for popcorn topping

purposes (upon request). Again, Odell's reports, " All of our products are gluten

free. "

SOME of our theatres use Original Flavacol, which is a `buttery salt' added

during the popping process. According to its manufacturer, Gold Medal Products,

" The Original Flavacol is gluten free. "

Some of our theatres use salt (instead of or in conjunction with Flavacol) in

the popping process.

Here's my one caveat:

This information is based on standard recipes and product formulations; however,

variations might occur due to differences in preparation, ingredients, and

special orders. Please feel free to inquire at your local Landmark location to

verify that the described products are in use.

Though all of the information above is based upon our national standards and

contracts, it's always possible that a last minute variation may occur. For

instance, one of our distributors might run short of a given popping oil and

improperly deliver a substitute. This shouldn't happen but it could, despite

procedures in place with both our distributors and our field personnel.

Hope that answers your question!

Damien Farley,

Director of Concessions

Landmark Theatres/Silver Cinemas

Does this mean that the actual butter they put on is gluten free - cause that would make a huge difference in my experience ;p
