Guest guest
My GI doc suspected that I needed to have my thyroid condition checked again. My OB/GYN had it checked last December, and since she apparently doesn't know too much about the thyroid either, at least she lets med get Armour, instead of the Synthroid she originally prescribed a few years ago. So my GI doc got me an appt. with an endo. I was happy to see that the endo he referred me to was with Dr. Ken Brantley, the one that Shomon has on her list as a " super doc " . There were three doctors in that one office. I thought they would all be " of one mind " so to speak, but oh no. This doc, (name withheld), didn't take into consideration ANY of the symptoms I listed, and like the cookie cutter mentality they all have, prescribed Synthroid. Said I should stop the Armour. They also drew blood, but didn't even wait for the lab results, just prescribed Synthroid on the spot. No other hormones, like cortisol, HGH, DHEA, melatonin, estrogen/progesterone/testosterone, nothing. " Just come see me again in 6 weeks " . Most standard endocrinologists really only know diabetes, that's all. I had a partial thyroidectomy b/c of hyper but I was just like your friend, actually very hypo from birth. IMO she really needs a doc like Thierry Hertoghe MD in Belgium, a Broda type doc http://www.brodabarnes.org for thyroid/adrenal treatment. I guess she is in UK. Hi Gracia Thanks for that, yes she is in Devon in south west of England where I live. I'll have a look at the broda barnes site though I thought they were U.S. only. Dr Peatfield is probably the nearest, in terms of him doing clinics around the country. Don't it make you want to poke their eyes out with a hot poker, these docs, ruining peoples' lives like this?
