Guest guest
My doctor just prescribed 6-MP (150mg/day based on weight) to go along with my 15mg/day prednisone dosage. After reading Jerry's recent posting ( " In lower doses than that of cancer therapy they may be able to hold immune system diseases in check for long periods of time without treatment and/or possibly cure them. " ), I am concerned about the dosage amount. Do those of you on 6-MP take a lower dosage amount because you are using it for AIH instead of cancer? Also, do you take the 6-MP at one time per day or divide up the dosage and take it 2 or more times a day? My prescription just says to take 3 tablets a day, and I am waiting to hear from my doctor whether that means all at once or spread out. Re: estrogen usage while taking prednisone -- back in '98 when I was diagnosed, my gastro said it's OK to take the estrogen in pill form. I intend to ask him about the patch when I see him next week. I think we should be using whatever is easiest on our livers. Thanks everyone for your help. This is really a great site.
