Guest guest
Hello, " sendmeyourcrap " - LMAO! I've never heard of Thyodine before this post -- I'll check it out on the internet. I've never heard of having to go see your doc every 3 to 4 months... usually, they want you to come in every 6 months to do the bloodwork and renew any prescriptions, etc. In the beginning, when you're first diagnosed and they are trying to stabalize your thyroid, I can understand their wanting to see you more often. But, if there isn't a problem and it's just to renew a 'script, that's insane. It's to the doc's benefit when you have to come in... more money for an " office visit " in his pocket. At least this is MY humble opinion, I may be wrong here. When you say you want to try " alternative " stuff, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean aside from your Levoxyl or in place of it? I take my Armour Thyroid daily, but I do supplement it with vitamins and herbs to help with some of my ongoing symptoms (memory loss, foggy feeling, hairloss, etc.). Yvette:) > Hi Everyone! > > First off--sorry for the rude email address... it's the only one > I've got that has any room left. > > Second, has anyone heard of or tried Thyodine? Guest guest
I just looked this up on the 'net to find out what it is exactly. Turns out Thyodine is Atlantic Kelp Extract. You've got to be VERY careful when messing around with kelp/iodine - especially if you've got thyroid disease. Kelp is rich in Iodine. If you are Iodione deficient, it could help restore function, since Iodine is needed to make thyroid hormones. The T in T4 is the Tyrosine and the 4 means 4 Iodine atoms. T3 has three Iodines... BUT, if you are not Iodine deficient, you could go hyper or more hypo...not pleasant, I can tell you from experience. KELP made me crash HARD. Iodine deficiency is very rare in the US. > Hi Everyone! > > First off--sorry for the rude email address... it's the only one > I've got that has any room left. > > Second, has anyone heard of or tried Thyodine? Guest guest
Hi Yvette! Thanks for the responses! And, CRUD!!!! I just bought (and took) some kelp that I got at a health food store. Not sure if it's Atlantic or from elsewhere, but I don't want to make my condition worse!!!! I doubt if I'm iodine deficient... I'm in the US, and I've always had a healthy appreciation for salt. (average consumer, not too much, that's gross). I'm also ignorant of my T3 & 4 levels. My gyno (who funnily enough prescribed pennicillin to me 20 minutes after my telling the nurse that it nearly killed me once... do all gynos try to off their patients?) tested my thyriod levels at my request back in February. When I called for the results, the nurse said I had HYPERthyriod! I asked her why I wasn't skinny and if that were the case. Then I asked my doctors wife, who said the nurse read it backwards. Sigh. THAT'S why I want to take alternative stuff, stuff I can BUY without a prescription... I need to get better educated on all of this. I've just been happily popping a pill twice a day and been feeling SO MUCH better that I guess I just took the easy way out. What do you mean by kelp making you crash hard? Did you just feel very tired? Or did you feel awful in general? How long did you take it for? How much? Sorry... I ask lots of questions. I am also gifted at stating the obvious! ;-) I'm glad you told me about the 3-4 months thing. I was SO MAD and UPSET today when they wouldn't even give me a script for another week. I thought this doc was different, that this one actually cared, but maybe he too cares only about $$$? At least he hasn't tried to kill me yet, hah ha! Then again, in another few years they'll come out saying that Wellbutrin (something else he prescribed) makes you grow a foot out of your forehead or something... > > Hi Everyone! > > > > First off--sorry for the rude email address... it's the only one > > I've got that has any room left. > > > > Second, has anyone heard of or tried Thyodine? Guest guest
Oh--I'm Pam, in case I forgot to introduce myself!!! Yvette, I really hope I get to hear from you soon re this kelp thing! I've felt very weird all day (headache, stomachache, hot, nauseous, tired, dizzy) all day. But maybe it's the stress of 'managed' care here!?!?!?!? Thanks;)
Guest guest
Hi again, " sendmeyourcrap " (are you going to give us a first name, or shall I just call you " send " or " crap " ? LMAO)... I'm sorry, I should've made it clearer when I posted that info you're referring to -- I never tried it personally. I've read a lot of research in articles about being careful with iodine/kelp if you're hypothyroid, as it can make it worse. I avoid getting any vitamins or supplements if they contain any kelp or iodine. Also, you need to stay away from the veggies and fruits that have been known to suppress thyroid function (brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, kale, mustard greens, spinach, peaches and pears). If you're going to take supplements - please make sure that you add fatty acids to your daily routine. A deficiency of essential fatty acids causes an imbalance in the thyroid function. I order all my vitamins and " stuff " from http://www.vitacost.com -- I found them to be reasonably priced and very good quality. Some of the things I take daily are the following: Multi-vitamin Vitamin C-complex (that contains rose hips, at least 5mg) MSM - 1000 mg (really helps my hair loss) Evening Primrose Oil - 1300mg (helps w/the hair loss, too) Complete EFA (with Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9) L-Carnitine - 250mg. (helps w/energy and memory) Vinpocetine w/Green Tea Extract - 5mg (really helps with the brain fog) I'm going to start to add calcium supplements and CoQ10 soon. LMAO at the confusion in your gyno's office. OMG! I'm glad they didn't kill ya or anything. > > > Hi Everyone! > > > > > > First off--sorry for the rude email address... it's the only one > > > I've got that has any room left. > > > > > > Second, has anyone heard of or tried Thyodine? Guest guest
I should've kept reading before responding before -- nice to know your name now, Pam. I was feeling awful calling you sendmeyourcrap. LOL Sorry I didn't get to respond to your post earlier -- been busy house hunting and stuff. Jeez, I can't believe you were feeling all those symptoms! I can't say for sure if it was the Kelp. I would stop taking it and see how it goes. Hope you're feeling better by now! > Oh--I'm Pam, in case I forgot to introduce myself!!! > > Yvette, I really hope I get to hear from you soon re this kelp > thing! Guest guest
.. Thyodine SKU: 13 Superb thyroid support. After years of seeking an effective product for low thyroid conditions, we are thrilled to have discovered Thyodine. Contains dulse, bladderwrack, L-Tyrosine, Irish moss, and homeopathics in a base of multiple glandulars. Since we introduced this product several years ago, we have had numerous reports from customers who told us that it not only helped their thyroid function, but that in many cases they felt better on Thyodine than while taking thyroid medications like Synthroid. Rather than adding hormones to your body from an outside source, Thyodine helps to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce normal amounts of thyroid hormone again.* In order to comply with FDA regulations, we have removed our Thyodine Testimonials page. However, we receive unsolicited testimonials on a daily basis from customers who tell us how much this product has helped them and how much it has improved their health and quality of life. Often we hear that a person " has her life back " for the first time in decades. Many of these people had multiple indicators of low thyroid function, yet were unable to get a prescription. Others were unhappy with their prescriptions, particularly Synthroid, and found that they did much better on Thyodine. Thyodine does not help every person, but it is by far the most effective thyroid support we have found.* Contraindications: If you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, please consult your practitioner before using Thyodine. (Some people with Hashimoto's, especially if it is mild, are helped by Thyodine. In other cases, Thyodine might aggravate the condition, due to the fact that it may stimulate the thyroid gland.) Not indicated for those whose thyroid function has been destroyed through the use of radioactive iodine or those who have had their thyroid gland surgically removed. (If you have part of your thyroid gland left, Thyodine may still be of some benefit.) For other contra-indications, please click on the FAQ link below.* Thyodine has been on the market for over 10 years and has helped many thousands of people.* Our single most popular product. Will last one month at an average dose. (60 tablets for $20.00; 6 or more for $18.00 each.) [Thyodine FAQ] Please click on FAQ link for answers to most of your questions about Thyodine and thyroid health.
