Hi Folks,

I would like to share my story with all of you that have thyroid

challenges.

I searched for natural remedies that would " cure " me of a

hyperthyroid condition when I was diagnosed in early May 2003.My

heartbeat was 100+, T4 tested at 3.7, my T3 was 225, and TSH -

minimal. I also was excreting a lot of calcium in my urine, which the

endocrinologist thought was as a result of the hyperthyroid

condition. In addition, my immune system was severely suppressed

(3.7).

The endocrinologist wanted me to take Tapazole and she prescribed a

beta blocker (propranolol). I declined the Tapazole since I chose to

use natural remedies to manage the hyperthyroid condition, but I did

take the beta blocker to reduce my heart rate. However, my research

on beta blockers indicates they have side effects that weaken the

heart after several years. I found a relatively new beta blocker

called Coreg, which has demonstrated a 38% reduction of death due to

cardiovascular reasons; studies show a 65% reduction in all causes of

death; and several studies showed that Coreg reduced damaging free

radicals in the heart by 38%. I asked my endocrinologist to prescribe

Coreg for me. Since she hadn't ever prescribed Coreg to a patient,

she referred me back to my primary care practitioner who prescribed

it for me. However, my hyperthyroid condition improved significantly

by the time of the Coreg prescription, so I only took it for a day or

two. I can't attest to the efficacy of Coreg, but research shows that

it actually benefits the heart rather than weakens it like other beta

blockers do.

The big discovery that has led to an amazing improvement in my

hyperthyroid condition is Fulvic Acid (not to be confused with folic

acid - B vitamin). According to the web site:

www.fulvic.com/healthalert/thyroid.htm, Fulvic Acid can prevent and

treat thyroid disease including hypothyroidism; hyperthyroidism,

Graves Diesease and 's Syndrome, plus many other conditions.

Outpatient medical hospital studies on overactive thyroid had a 90.9%

cure rate within a six month period when patients were treated with

fulvic acid medication (Yan, Shenyan; Tongren Hospital, Beijing:

Fulvic Acid, 4 (1988).There are so many incredible benefits of fulvic

acid that you need to go to Fulvica BioScience's Health Alert web

site (address list above). According to their web site, thyroid

malfunction, both overactive and underactive, is generally due to

autoimmune response by the body generally caused by a build up of

dangerous toxins, chlorinated substances, viruses, pathogens,

infections, pesticides, altered anzymes or hormones, etc. in the

tissues of the thyroid gland.

I found a fulvic acid mineral complex with 42% of fulvic acid in the

product from Vital-Earth Minerals (1-866-291-4400 or

www.vitalearth.org) and started taking two ounces of fulvic acid per

day as of May 6, 2003. I had already boosted my immune system from

3.7 to 5.2 (normal level) by using echinacea tincture, and burdock

root infusion. I also was taking a lot of other vitamins and

supplements including omega 3s, calcium, vitamin C, chromium, garlic,

zinc with copper. In addition, I was taking one cap of Dr.

Schylze's intestinal formula to strengthen and tone my digestive

system, which I continue to do.

By June 18, 2003, my test results revealed a normal free T4 reduced

from 3.7 to 1.6 and a continued, normal white blood count of 4.9. The

T3 was 206 reduced from 225 (normal level is 70 - 180).

At this same time, I added Dr. Jordan Rubin's Primal Defense with

Homeostatic Soil Organisms (HSO)to my health plan. It is a whole food

probiotic with HSO, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, amino acids,

antioxidants and phytosterols sterolins. It has 14 probiotic strains,

super food blend of dunailella, salina, barley grass juice, oat grass

juice, and yucca juice in a tablet form, which is highly bioavailable

due to the lacto-fermented and enzymatically predigested process

called Poten-Zyme. I continue to take 2-3 tablets per day one hour

after meals and buy this product from Apple a Day and Beyond (1-877-

277-5357 or www.primaldefenseandbeyond.com).

During the week of June 18th, I also added Vital Earth's liquid Super

Multi product (1 ounce daily), which is in a base of fulvic acid but

not as strong as their Fulvic Acid Mineral Complex. Vitamins are

almost 98% bioavailable when you take them in a liquid form or in a

tablet that has been formulated with a Poten-Zyme process.

Another benefit of these natural remedies was improved cholesterol

levels. My triglicerides dropped from 238 to 174 and my HDL (good

cholesterol) increased from 29 to 32. My total cholesterol level is

158, which is a pretty good level.

My September 2, 2003 tests revealed that my T3 dropped from 206 to

182, a slightly elevated level (normal range is 70 to 180), which is

much better but still a little high. My T4 remains normal at 1.6.

I continue to use the abovementioned natural remedies to heal the

hyperthyroid condition. I am having a 24 hr. uptake iodine scan next

week to see if the original score of 45% has been reduced. My heart

rate is well within normal ranges of 75 to 85, but my TSH is minimal,

and the bottom line is that I still have a hyperthyroid condition but

it is so much improved. I'm working my health program every day!

I also added exercise to my health regimen seven days a week, cut out

diet pop and caffeine, reduced sugar to minimal, and added almost

daily meditation. I also changed my eating habits to fish (2x week),

chicken, veggie burgers, salads, fruits, vegetables, yogurt

smoothies, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and 8 eight ounce glasses of

purified water per day.

I will send another post with more news as my progress continues.

Best of luck on your journey of recovery! Lynn Allard
