Hi Ken, Tricky question. When I was originally fused T4 to L1 at

age 12, I did NOT have a Harrington Rod (which is usually assumed

when one developes " Flatback " ), other than typical back pains - I

was FINE until my 40's. With rotation and curvature progressing

rapidly at that point (above and below original fusion), I was in

extreme pain 24/7 and unknowingly began to lean forward, just

because it didn't hurt as bad in that posture. Now, unfortunately,

after 12/03 " revision " , I have less pain but can NOT stand upright

at all... have what I call the " 10 after 6:00 position. "

So, not to be negative or anything, but at 38 y/o (right?), you not

leanin' YET don't count for much. Maybe you do not have flatback

YET. If I had been pampering my back in my 30's and 40's like I am

FORCED to do now, maybe I would not be fused down to S1 today.

Take care, Marty

Hi: I am fused to L4 and only lean forward when I am exhausted from trying to

sit

correctly...light right now. My husband also notices it when I am walking or

intently doing

something. My main problem is sciatic and low back pain. Teri
